  • Duffy's Cruze

So it all began...in a universe not so far away...

I picked up my Cruze so I could stop daily driving my Subaru...little did I know I would get married, have a kid and end up having to sell the Subaru to a kid who did the unspeakable...

    It went from this....

    To this...

So here she is, in her all stock glory...going from under 20mpg to over 30mpg was pretty nice...not gonna lie.

It took me a while to get back into the game but I got tires of hubcaps so I snatched up some wheels on clearance last summer to make me all fuzzy inside, I cut my springs and have regretted it everyday since...never again!

June 2014 - I ended up grabbing some spacers but i couldn't cut any more spring off comfortably so the car looked like this for about 5 months...

November 2014 - I found out I was deploying again so it was time to sell the wheels and get something new going. I picked up some XXR 18x9.5 +35 and decided that I would make them work...and work it will take! Threw the wheels on and took a few quick pics.

These wheels ended up taking a bit of work to even get on...I had to run wheel adapters to get any sort of aggressive fitment out of a wheel so I went with 5x114.3.

The wheel studs had to be shaved to allow the new wheels to sit on the adapter all flush-like! I also pulled the trigger and painted up the majority of my "chrome" trim along with a light coat of tint on the tails, clear and buffed to the point that they feel like my paint.

      Compared to a stock Cruze...I'm estimating a 3-4" drop...

Looks good so far! I'm not a big fan of the cut springs or the xxr's, but it does look pretty damn good. Hurry and get those coils!

There are some pretty good looking lip kits for these cars if you ever plan on upgrading the exterior of the car any, check out the OB kit. This car is also sold as the Lacetti, so if you can't find a specific part, or want to change your car up even more, check out Lacetti parts.

Welp, Ill be home in under a week. I got some new tools and a couple parts to throw on...I wish I deployed to Afghanistan again...the Subaru from stock to what it was with 9/mo tax free paychecks...I had to deal with taxes and only stayed in Liberia shooting Ebola in the face for half the time of my previous tour...which means 1/4 the parts pile-up

The Cruze will be ready to roll in all of her cheap wheel glory soon! I have plans to remove my tail tint and just go full red along with a few other cosmetics...I have to make sure I modify the car tastefully as not to piss off the GM techs in the occasion I have to take advantage of my 100,000 mile bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty...She'll live all of her days out as a <100whp car...unless someone releases a turbo kit that makes more than 200whp...so she'll stay stock

Well here we go, I've been home for about a month now and I haven't posted once. I did my install and setup in the first few days and I got another Subaru so the Stance kinda fell off. . .the car isn't quite where I want it...I feel I have too much poke and I can't add more camber without adjustable top hats in the front. I will be going with a higher offset 19" wheel in a few months to get rid of some tire. But here she is as she sits meow...

feel free to comment and give me opinions...I have a RS Bumper waiting for paint and I'd love to throw on a front lip...we'll see what the future has in store for the Cruze...like I said the Subie has taken priority...

This is obviously before I painted the wheels...

The Subaru needs a lot of work...it has rusted quarters and rockers so I cut it all out and threw on some cheap 280SX flares, wheels and some meaty tires. . .I'm in the process of finding some wide body fenders and working up a plan for some side skirts...also a work in progress...

I actually like the way it sits now. What thickness adapters are those?
I feel its time to give my a4 a break and start modding the daily lol.

These are 1" adapters. I wish I could find thinner ones for the rear...I could drag the front lip if I could tuck more tire...

It is a little Mexi-flush for my taste, but that's just me. Is there any way to swap the hubs in off the diesel Cruze? They're 5x115, IIRC, and that'd let you run 5x114.3 with just wobble bolts and centering rings.

EDIT: As an aside, it's amazing to me just how ridiculously big wheel openings are getting on cars these days. My Mercedes is a good size car and sometimes I look at my 18s and think they're too big. And then I see 18s on your Cruze and they look tiny.

Should be that hard to find smaller adapters. If it comes down to it you can get some made from motorsport- tech.

They're otherwise called PCD variation bolts. They allow you to run wheels with 2-3mm different PCD, so long as the hub bore is correct or you get centering rings.

Otis LA is where I've always gotten my lugs, and they carry wobble bolts as well.

so youre at 18x9.5 et 10 in the rear? Quite aggressive.

Ive been looking at getting wheels in 5x100 and just getting them re-drilled. It would probably be about the same price as adapters in the end.
