Just read the whole thread, brilliant work.
Regarding the vinyls, theres a guy on here with a great Mazda 6 build, he has chrome wheels and matched those with chrome vinyls and it looks absolutely sublime, I would consider the same route if I were you because I think the wheel set up you got rocking at the moment is amazing.
On the otherhand if you're going to colour match the wheels, go for a light colour on the vinyl such as white or the silver you got in mind, because in my opinion a dark coloured vinyl wont pop as much because the colour of the golf is failry dark.
But like I said thats just my view, I'm sure whatever you settle with will looks great.

Sooo. been doing some small work on the car. I am getting new graphics made for the side, but i need some opinions on the color.

Green, silver, or gloss black. new wheels will be color matched green.
