  • Mk3 astra estate with a difference

Hi all. My names Ash, been milling around on here for some time mainly keeping up to date with simps' nova sr20det build.

Thought i would pop a few pictures up of my baby
    When i bought her

Now i know from those photos it looks awful, and i only ever had one person believe in me at this point. I had A LOT of criticism from the lads at college and what not but i had ideas, i knew i could make it something different, something that turns heads and that i love driving.

So lets fast forward, 4 years on, many different engine stages, a respray, too many sets of wheels to count and a few idiots driving into it. Here she is as she stands

Now those photos were taken at the end of last season, the specs were as follows at that point.
    quarter mile 16.4 seconds
    122bhp
    134ftib
2.0 8v engine with a bit of headwork, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold to a full cutsom 2" stainless, ported inlet and throttle body.

Now at the start of the season she was running like this

On a set of Kawasaki ninja zx10r bike carbs. It sounded amazing but as there is no information out there on fitting these, i went with common sense which caused plenty of problems. It was running rich and lean at different points throughout the rev range, and like an idiot i wasnt running a wideband. She went bang, all 4 cylinders well down on compression, i had blown the rings. 2nd engine rebuild commenced, for safety and to ensure i made it to the end of the show season i fitted it back on injection.

Now over winter ive been very busy, if there is enough interest i am more than happy to post my whole build thread on here, but it will take some time. Lets just say the bike carbs will be back, soon, and on a frankenstein of an engine.

Anyway, ill stop babbling on. Let me know your thoughts
