I dyed the carpet for my compact since it was all wore out. I did very light passed and used a big scrub brush to work it in. No change in texture at all for me=)
Looks like you did a great job

Unfortunately you lose a lot of the "softness" when dying the OEM carpet. I made sure to brush the carpet
after each pass of the dye. This helps spread the fibers & prevents dry patches & such. I was willing to
sacrifice the feel for the look so I'm beyond content. But yes it does dry it out a bit.

I used Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric dye (gloss black). It's very easy to control & apply.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After hours of vacuuming, shampooing, scrubbing, cleaning, removing the seats (front & rear)
and taping off every square inch that might be hit by overspray...I finally finished laying down the dye.

Overall, I'm very happy with the result. It's difficult to capture decent pictures while the
car is in this dark garage. Once I reinstall the seats, the snow melts & the roads are clear
of salt, I'll post better ones.

They're color matched OEM covers, bought them off ECS Tuning.

Worked on the interior a bit tonight, figured I would share.
