I'd try the easy fixes first,

Fuel filter - assuming its inline,
Clean the throttle body- Pop off airbox, spray cleaner in, wipe down best you can, take for a good drive,
Check plugs, - see if there is any arcing on the wires, or plugs.
Toss a bottle of injector cleaner in a tank of gas.

Are the injectors direct on this puppy or no?
    LOVE old volvos box looks.
    Canadian eh,

      Gotcha. Thanks!
Yep, direct injection. The big boxy boring look is what drew me to them in the first place lol

Yeah man! Probably not a fuel pump related problem, sounds like a bad spark when cold, or clogged/sticky injectors from sitting for so long.

It starts then dies. Then after starting again it stays running but struggles for a little while. Sorry if that didn't make sense lol

sounds like it could be an issue with your warm up regulator. Check out http://www.k-jet.org/articles/inform...bugging-guide/

Just going to add that your 242 is my favorite out there and basically the reason I chose to hang onto mine lol
