So I was putting in my carpet and everything was going good and then my a.d.d kicked in and I bought this.

This picture was taken "as found". It's a 1967 2000c owned by the grandson of the original owner who bought it while he was stationed in Germany and had it shipped back to socal when he got out of the service. Needless to say I was super stoked and so I doubled down on the carpet install and got it done.

Oh man, I'd give a nut for one of them buses…

They are exactly how I'd want one to be.

      Carry on and flourish

          Obligatory,

I got the tires mounted and threw them on to see where I was at. It barely touched the ground and I knew I couldn't roll it like that. TOO HIGH. So I cut a coil and a half off the front.

          Yuck. But better.

Took it out for a spin.

Almost done with the mock up on the MK1 flares. Also Got my ride height a little closer to respectable.

I hope you show some more pictures of how you got those flares to fit. That looks damn near OEM!

Finally clicking on this thread was my best decision tonight!

Thanks for the acknowledgement, keep up the work. Interesting way to mount the flares, will that be permanent?

Thank you! That was my goal actually. I wanted them to look factory I will see what pictures I have of the flare mounting and post some more detail.

There is a method too my madness. I think.

I've seen pic after countless pic of all manner of flare mounting fu©κery. Some are too high. Some are too low. Some aren't centered properly. Some just look like aƨƨ. Chances are they aren't going to flow with the body on the first try. If they do somebody got lucky. I'm never that lucky. I mounted the flares with screws TEMPORARILY so I could move them. So far I've moved them 6 times (each time a fraction up or down, forward or back, as necessary, to try and get as close to what I envision in my head. Shoot, I even had to swap sides once and believe it or not it made a huge difference. Once they are where I want them I will weld them in permanently.

Here's a pic before I swapped sides. You can see the sharpie line which was the original mount location. I dropped it because it was too high off the tire. It looks like an Opel fender (undesirable). Too much meet between the top of the hood and the lip of the wheelwell.

I ended up lowering the front another inch and raising the fenders to accommodate. ""EDIT" and flipping left for right.
