  • To the ground alice!

Hey guys whats up! My name is Mark Shoemaker, i'm 22 and between work and school I don't really have all that much time to just play around with my hobbies. I've just about read every single build on stanceworks. I've always wanted to share what I've been doing so here goes. Gotta catch some you guys up to speed so just keep reading, things are fine and will be worth it i swear! You just gotta give me and my build a chance. So introducing my main bitch that I've had for an entirely long time, my 88 crx si. I call him fragile because hes just one of those cars in which no matter what you do, nothing ever goes right. Things are never easy, but he's still around kinda, actually he's just hanging by a thread. This build thread.

Introducing my friend fragile, bought him when i was 19 for 2,000 which looking back was waaaaaaaay over priced. He came with a full dc exhaust, cold air intake, lowered on Tokyo blues and ebay coils. Fragile here has 16x,xxx miles. he came on steelies and with a factory red paint job. Now that was 3 years ago and i dont have any pictures. He was my daily for years but was always less then reliable. Hes gone through about 5 different paint jobs using paint rollers, rattle cans and even plasti dipp. In his current state he is rocking a maroon rattle can paint job which was done 2 years ago and hes recently begun looking like shit. Lifting the curtain and welcome to the stage my shitty crx.

So this was about 2 years ago, sitting on diamonds 15x8 0 off set with 1 inch spacers, back then I didn't know what mexiflush was. Also, the tires were 195/50 on the fron and 205/50 on the rears. But this was when fragile was at its peaks concerning operations. I ended up trading my diamonds for a crazy ass deal and my all time favorite rare ass wheels. Im pretty sure that I alone have the only set on the east coast, these rare vintage 80s rims. So these kmc 78s were first own by my buddy derek and he had them on his wagon which look crazy ass awesome. I knew that one day i was gonna get me a set but never figured i'd get his. These kmc 78's were rebarreled and redrilled 15x8 NEGATIVE 25 offset with 165/55/15s kumo's on them. They were unreal but he decided to trade them because they poked a crazy amount and he wanted to go back to something practical. He traded them to a guy named dylan who instantly put them up for sale for $1200. He posted them on several stance sites but for a few months just could not get rid of them due to flakers and cheap ass people. So one day I randomly hit him up and offered to trade my diamonds for his kmcs, he was hesitant at first but knew everyone wants diamonds so we traded. here are some pics my peeps.

I know what you're thinking, like WOW those are nice. Now progressing the story I the picked up some xxr 513 16x8 0et for $300 off my buddy john. the only came with 2 205/50 tires but I thought i could find use for them in the future.

They were good looking rims and I always wanted a pair but damn, I ***** that yellow mustard ass color. Oh wells rims are rims

So I was lurking on Honda Motor Heads of Maryland like always and I spotted a 91 crx si with a b16 obd0 swap on some 16x7 black slipstreams. Guy wanted 2 grand for it, but then i found out he was located right down the street from my apartment. So i scooped it up real quick. Came with a body kit but I thought thats different, I bet I could make that soooo coool. Here are some pics!

So here ya go, I had 2 crx's and i thought life was good, Fragile was a pain in my ass it didnt run well so the white crx became my daily for a few months and it was great. But the white crx had a problem with its clutch for it wouldn't disengage and it would randomly stall for no damn reason. So I was in the market for a capable daily so I went on cragslist and found this heap. My 91 ford ranger which I bought for $600. It was so ugly, gross, and just a piece but I loved it because I never wanted to put money into it. It just drove and got me from point A to point B. I also picked up rims for the ranger for $100 because i figured I'd turn it into a lowered flatbed if it survived long enough.

The truck was awesome, it helped me save so much money! Welp I ended up taking the slipstreams off my 91 crx and posted them on Honda Motor Heads to see what was out there.

Guy hit me up, I drove 2 hours away to meet a guy in fragile my less then reliable crx and traded! Boom 15x9 dubfergenworks with 165/55/15s. they had great stretch and were just mint. Guy I traded wanted something more practical i suppose, i didn't complain. Here were the pics he sent me

When i got them home i was so excited!

I had to test fit them and wow, I felt pretty good about myself.

I picked up some mint crx seats from a guy, talked him down from $300 to $100 because he just couldn't get rid of them. Bought a wooden steering wheel for $40 and admired all my rims

Just decided to show some more pics before i reveal what happened next...

Well after this the red crx blew its headgasket, i wasn't upset. I was actually excited because i knew that was probably the reason why it didn't seem all that happy. but things got worse...

Here a random pic of me messing with the damn red crx driver door. I pissed me off because ever sense i got this car the driver door never lined up perfectly. And on top of that i had to buy an 88 crx which was the odd ball out of all crx's because they didn't come with the door mounted seat belts which made doors 100x harder to find.

Well, one day it was raining extremely bad. I wouldn't be caught in the rain at all but i had to go to work. I had a great day at work, i'm a server and pulled $172 dollars in a 6 hour shift and was like I'm king of the world. I got off and decided to head home, I too this day do not know why I choose to take the highway home but i did. I was driving up the ramp/semi circle in my crappy ranger, and next thing i knew the truck started slipping. I lost control and spun out on to the highway only then to be T-boned by a tracker trailer going about 70. It hit me on the passenger side door and to this day I don't know how i walked away from that with no damage except some glass in my right hand. I didn't know what to do, I had just destroyed my daily and had 2 undrivable cars. The red crx fragile was down because i was replacing a head-gasket and the white crx just stalled and didn't wanna run. I had no time for either and was in a pickle, so I was looking on the Honda motor heads and saw a guy looking for a crx si. He said he'd pay cash or trade for one. He was looking for a while so i decided to see what he'd give me for my white crx, he offered me a 93 eg si hatch back. I couldn't be picky because i needed a daily so i accepted. So we traded, I was honest to him about the white crx. It needed a clutch, fuel pump and some other things, he said yes and we traded. So i now had a eg hatch, a car i never personally wanted because i thought everyone had one. here some the pics of the eg which he sent me

The eg was clean, had 25x,xxx miles, aftermarket headers and skunk 2 coils on stock struts. At first i'm not gonna lie, i didn't think the guy as gonna trade me, but he did and even came to me. He dropped off the eg and took the white crx away. It was a sad moment but it was for the best. First thing i did with the eg was max out the shitty ebay coils, put on a hood brah, slapped a front lip on, bought and installed a universal roof rack off ebay for $40. They didn't fit so i just drilled them into the door jam, and strapped a basket to it.

    1st day i had it

Slapped all that stuff on in less then a week! Needed my daily to look kinda nice

The car loooked pretty great to me but it needed a damn armrest for it didn't come with one. So i posted a ad on the honda motor head forum and found a guy selling one for $20, I go drive 10 mins and meet him. He asked me is there anything else i was currently looking for and i said well i could use some 16 inch tires. told me he had a set of new 205/40/16s at his shop that were collecting dust and asked me to throw him an offer. I didn't know so i talked him down too $100 and picked them up! Next day i had the xxr 513 mouted ! and clean those things up

they looked good but i need that mustard yellow one gone so I plasti dipped them white because i was in a rush! here are some pics!

Well i still gotta a lot to update you guys with. Right now its a clean daily and looks pretty decent for only owning the car for 1 month. I was pretty happy with this set up but it made me made because the rear of the car wasn't as low as the front. Lot more updates to come when I get home from work my peeeeeeps!!!

So today was a suck ass day at work, it was slow and I was sent home early so here I am continuing to catch everyone up. I was bored so i decided why not update the interior a bit. Went to joe anne fabrics and picked up some hipster cloth. It took my girlfriend and I a weekend but I think it turned out great.

It wasn't enough so I decided to install a sparco quick release, nrg steering wheel, wooden shift knob and a wink mirror. Also installed a 7inch flip out radio

Now that quick release was a real pain in the ass, only because it was my first time dealing with an airbag. I literally just ripped that shit out, but now it has a stupid SRS light on which bothers me. Ill just take out the dash and remove the light bulb sooner or later! But it needed more. I always ***** eg cloth seats, the ones in my hatch had faded and turned a weird blue color. So again I search the honda motor heads of maryland and found a guy who had biege gsr seats in an eg hatch. $30 and my stock eg si seats and they were mine

However, he didnt have the bottom half of the rear seats so i gotta keep my eyes open for that.

But that wasn't enough for me, progress always has to be made so I loook towards exterior next. Red is not my favorite color by all means, actually i **** it. The eg hatch as you can see is red so that had to change. But i didnt paint it... )))))))))

anyone know what this is loll?

Well if you don't know this is wood vinyl wrap, i figured well that would be different. So i started with watching every video I could on youtube. They serious make that shit look way too easy, So I tried the hood. this is what i got

Now in these pics it looks perfect but its not. It was my first attempt and on both sides there are wrinkles. But i decided Id redone it again later because from far away it looks great. ANYONE WHO EVER ATTEMPTS THIS LET ME TILL YOU...PERFECTION IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. well with that being said i started next with the fenders which were so much easier then the hood.
      I did the driver fender

      Passenger fender

      Gas cap

      Duckbill

So my car was pretty awesome in my eyes. Heres a pic outside of my girlfriends job

It needs more low so one piece coilovers are a must, but i decided ill wait till X-mas till that since its so damn cold outside. Here are some pics which I took a day before Thanks Giving

      Basket of stanceworks !

Car needs more low its kill me ((((( I'm about to just cut the rear springs but my twin wont let me so I found this to occupy me for a while. Introducing my new friend i bought for $600! I decided to let my twin buy 50% of it so we can both have a back up car in case something happens to our dailys drivers. But the new sedan was bought after i talk the guy down from $1000. i really beat him down on the price because it has 275,xxx miles, all original stock. It burns a lot of oil and smokes a little at start up but it is a nice beater. When i get the hatch a the yonaka coilovers i have saved to my chart for X-mas, the sedan will get the skunk 2 coils and stock struts off the hatch.

Just a group pic of the family, my twins lifted flatbed s10, fragile, the hatch and the new egg sedan

So we are pretty much almost caught up, last week a random guy saw my eg hatch on the honda motor heads forum and messaged me. He told me he had spec d black housing headlights brand new still in the box for cheap. I asked how much and he said $40, even had the amber corner lights too. I only really wanted the amber corners but ended up meeting up with him and bought everything for $35 just to keep me busy with progress. I'll install them as soon as i can.

Got the red crx all back together as well after the headgasket. It was pretty muched finished a long time ago but it sat after i got the head back from the machine shop because i could not figure out how to time the thing. It didnt have the stock a6 head on it and had a 1.6 head non vtec got it all back together and it fired up. Sounds great, oils not mixing with the coolant, just almost overheated because it was spraying coolant in the engine bay. I getto rigged one of the coolant hoses because i couldn't find the orginal so thats most likely the culprit. I'll figure it out when i get time, too busy with school and finals are in 2 weeks. But here are the most recent pics of my hatch that i took 3 days ago. We are all caught up as of this moment. It was vague in some spots, i couldn't find certain pics. and there wasn't really any pics of me doing/installing things but that'll change. I have more vinyl wrap that i need to lay down. I attempt the front bumper this previous weekend. It was so hard and I ended it tearing it so i had to start a whole new attempt. but here are the most recent pics guys. If anyone made it this far, my journey into stance will continue and the builds should keep me entertained for a good while. Thanks guys, keeep in touch for I sure will!

My favorite pic of this car atm.

I need to buy a camera because evry pic untill now was taken with my cell phone. Blah oh wells life goes on!

Supp guys so I was sent home early from work today and I had nothing to do so I decided to finish something that has been bothering me for a long time.

                So I grabbed my bumper

And i grabbed my vinyl and prepared for the long hull. I knew it was gonna be extremely difficult, and i attempted it by myself...

                [URL=http://s48.photobucket.com/user/Markosaur/media/10822576_935601889798337_1163531180_n_zps43c0a225. jpg.html][/URL

And i got to work.... It took me FIVE hours. No joke and this was the first thing that wasn't completely one piece. It was like a few because it kept having trouble at the top of the bumper on top of the license plate. It was just wrapping weird. But i'm pretty content with this. Guys gotta remember that this is extremely cheap vinyl that isn't even made for cars... Its made for furniture -__-.

                End result

Looks perfect from far away and it really makes the front end of the car look much better. Wooden front end!!!!! How many people can say they have that lol. I love decals and stickers and it helped hide some problematic spots.

                .

That is all for today, I'm gonna find some eg fog lights to help not only hide the area around where the fog lights go but it'll also help give the car a more aggressive look. Bye for now

Ive used that vinyl before lol, such a royal pita usually but cheap and fun. I think that's what bagriders wrapped their one mini van with a while ago.

Cars looking good cant wait to see the bumper on

Yeah its the same thing that the mini van was wrapped in and where i got the idea. However they had a whole team wrapping the van lol. Its just me and my lonesome. But heres the car with the bumper on

I've also ordered fog lights from ebay which will be here in a few days. It'll help hide some parts while making it look better as a whole.

Not to be mean, but am I the only one kind of horrified by this thread?

Why in all names of fuck would you be satisfied with doing such half assed work to your car?

Why massively disappointed? The crx is on my list of things to do, juggling school and work is difficult.

I don't understand why someone would be horrified by this build/builds... What would you call half ass work to ones car? Its my build and i'll do as i please because i build to please myself. So far i'm pretty content with what i've done towards my vehicle and if it horrifies you so much you probably be better off staying away from this thread because i'm gonna keep progressing doing anything i want to do
