  • Project Rat Royce - '34 Rolls Royce

So we made another purchase this week, that being a 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 recovered from the grave. It has a Hooper body w/ Tickford convertible top. More pics to come when its back at the shop, but here's a couple of teasers to start our next build thread.

I wouldn't normally start the thread this early, but I'm just too eager. The frame is in need of repair, but there's enough there to restore it. All the door/trim/body panels are accounted for. Its missing 1 headlight, 1 fog light, the flying lady ornament from what I can tell so far.

As much as I'd love to keep the original motor, 20hp just won't do for the direction I'd like to take this project. I have a few swaps in mind, all of which are european rooted late-model drivetrains. The original motor will be cleaned up and should make a nice coffee table for the shop (nothing will be altered on the motor though to retain its value).

Here's where the controversy begins....this car is destined to be chopped, channeled, open-wheel and bagged. There will be plenty of the original class of this car restored to its proper form though. Love it or **** it, thats whats happening.

Couldn't help but pick up some plates for it too

i absolutely cannot wait to see what happens to this. When i was at the turkey rod run the past weekend, a buddy and i were just talking about making a rat rod out of an old 20's-30's euro. Looks like you beat us to it.

Agreed, I've been wanting to do it for years now and the Rolls Royce seemed like the perfect platform other than the fact that you can't find a pre-war RR in the US unrestored. It just doesn't seem to happen, and if it does its like $20-40k for one rotted out. I came across this one and had to do it.

Not to be rude or intrusive, but what did you have to shell out for this thing? I know that even the biggest bag of dicks pre-war RR is 30 grand easy!

Let's just say it was probably the best deal I'll ever get on a car like this

That's awesome, I love it. I wholeheartedly can't wait to see this thing get crazy.

You'll definitely have a unique custom on your hands. Is it one of these?

I am excited to see it modified, I'm hoping for more custom class and less rat for shock value. But whatever you do, have fun and drive!
