  • Walnuts goes legit in 2015

Hey guys starting a new build thread for the Miata now that it is being torn down for it's yearly refresh.

    The Car: 1990 Mazda Miata
    The Goal: Proam 2015

Up to this point in my life I've only really driven Hondas with four different Del Sol builds under my feet and a new found interest in drifting the decision wasn't hard to sell my Del Sol and start looking for a drift car. I've always had a love Miatas due to their size, ability to go topless and being cheap.

The hunt was on! After chatting with some local drifters and driving a few cars I knew what I wanted, and started searching craigslist for my perfect car.Early May 2012 I picked up a 100% stock one owner smurf from a local dealership. After taking it to the car wash and doing a quick wash to get the dirt off of it I took some photos that night so I could always remember what it looked like the day I bought it.

After doing a actual wash with soap I found the factory leather top cover in the trunk and a roll of electrical tape. With these new custom mods the camera was busted out yet again and tried a new location for some pictures.

Look at that fresh to death top cover.:haiguyths:

Picked up a rollbar from a local. I have no idea what brand it is but he had a blue miata as well so for the first few months people thought it was his car.

Then of course you can't have a stock height Miata. It's just not right so I bought some Megan Racing ez street coilovers and dropped her down on the stock daisies.

Now you can't just have a Miata sitting on stock daises for ever so I ended up buying the typical stance hella flush XXR 002 in gold and thought I was the coolest person around. With the Kumho tires it rode smooth did great in the rain and was everything I needed for a good daily.

Rocked it like that for a while and sometime after ordered a GV style ebay lip. It fit well and I loved it.

Before I bought the Miata I was getting very involved with Kansas City Drift Association. The drift scene really drew me in with the laid back people the cool cars and the general feeling that nobody really ***** each other. I started going to meets and volunteering at events. We decided for some reason or another it would be cool to have matching livery on our cars but it ended up being only me with the stickers so those only lasted a few months.

Pulled most of the stickers of and lowered the car some more as well for more scene points.

    more throwback posts tomorrow

Well shit I meant to do a update yesterday but had a bit to many brewskis with dinner.

So we left off at me pulling my stickers off. Well around that time I needed some money for rent so I did what every true broke person does and sold my supe rad xxrs, because I felt bed I did the next best thing and bottomed out my coilovers.

Tire with how shit the car looked I sold some other crap I had laying around and you guessed it picked up some more XXarghs. Took some tires we had laying around at the dealership and bolted those badboys up.

            Back to killing the game.

I was starting to get involved more and more with drifting and was at the limits of the car. Threw some Danny George knuckles on that bitch for all the mad angles.

Oh yah raised it up as well because you know. Function>form or some shit like that.

Yada yada yada sparcos blah blah blah

            and then we went durftin.

The car started grabbing more and more attention at events due to my driving style and the fact it wasn't just another damn 240.

              Everyone likes action pics right?

Pulling away from that 350z vq's don't have shit on that 90 hp stock 1.6 miata.

I don't know how to exactly embed anymore but we'll see if this works.

              Stripped that bitch

and then we hit the streets.

then we stripped it some more and made it heavier.

then we hit a event and ran the wall.

Thanks, I'm not the best at threads I don't do a bunch of gifs or anything but I have a lot of photos and videos hopefully.

Well, Here I thought I would be able to keep up on this. I fucking sorry I'm sorry. Anyways we left off at getting the cage put in.

Skip ahead a lot to last year and we got some aero.

Drove it around all boosie for a few weeks, and then we vinyl wrapped it in 3m Matte Metallic Blue.
I loved this color on the Rotiform BRZ and just had to have it.

Then we went drifting yet again, on some borrowed wheels.

Now that we are all caught up to the presentish and I have the day off tomorrow I'll put up the goals for 2015. #Finalboutprep2015
