My wife and I had our first child a few months ago, so in the months leading up to that event, I picked one more car off the "must own one day" list that I've been compiling since I was 11, and started hunting. The car I picked was the 300zx, both the z32 and z31 are on the list, so it was a matter of what came up on CL. Soon found a local candidate, 87 model, factory turbo, 124k on it. Worn, but solid, mostly stock (only mods involved the word "delete"), so I brought it home, in a cloud of smoke, sprays of oil, coolant and power steering fluid, and tucked it in the shop for a bit of renewal. Here are some pics from the previous owner.

First stage was mechanical work. Fixed the leaks, replaced hoses and fasteners, top-end gaskets, painted a couple things, and removed some un-used vac lines. Engine bay as received:

Stage 1:

Stage 2 for the engine entailed removal and block-off of emissions and idle control stuff, three row aluminum radiator, 12x24 intercooler, 2.5" exhaust, and manual boost controller.

For suspension, I swapped for all poly bushings, and installed Stance Super Sport coils. Holy fender gap!

1.5" spacer rear, 1" up front, rolled like this for a bit while looking for a wheel deal.

Then these happened, with brand new tires off CL, $500 for the set. Couldn't resist.

With spacers installed, 17x9et-13 up front, 17x10et-5 out back.

I have to come up with a tag for everything, so this is the badge for my slammed cars.

Repping with the wife at a local cruise-in.

And here she sleeps in the shop with other privileged members of the crew.

Still gotta do sub-frame and diff mounts, and the engine is about ready for a full rebuild that I may or may not start this year. Fenders need rolling, then the focus will stay with getting power numbers up on this car. Thank's for looking, updates as they come!
