  • My 05 Volvo V70 build

Hello all, I had a short post in the intro section but I figured it was time to start a build thread since I just got the coils on and wheels in.

Bought the car bone stock 3 months ago. I actually bought it with plans of just using it as my winter "beater", but I have always wanted a wagon and I always modify my cars so what follows was bound to happen.

Here it is in all it's factoryness.

First thing I did was the grille. Black egg crate from IPD. I took the Volvo slash out of the stock grille and stuck it on the IPD grille.

After that, I bought some roof rails and had them paint matched by a friend. Also put on an appropriate European style front plate. You will notice the nice wheel gap.

It was time to "get serious" after that. Got a set of BC BR coilovers in along with a new set of ESM 004 wheels. 18x8 35 ET. I actually ordered the wheels with gold rivets and red center caps, but they were sent with black rivets and silver centers. They sent me the red centers and gold rivets free of charge. Seeing them in person, I prefer the silver center cap but will be changing the rivets out.

Here's how it sits totally maxed on the BCs. The ride is much better than I was expecting, however I may go to a much stiffer front spring (stock BC is 5k) in order to prevent any wheel/fender marriages.

Now, I just got the coilovers finished on Sunday and went to test fit the wheels today. The custom hub/wheel centric adapters/spacers I purchased from Motorsport-Tech (excellent quality) were sent with the wrong lug bolts and hence drilled too small so I will have to send them back to be redrilled. I called them and they were adamant their book says it's a 12MM lug bolt, but obviously it isn't. They are correcting the problem free of charge and I am still a very happy customer.

Despite the parts problems, all in all a good experience so far. I can't wait to get the wheels on. Hopefully before the snow starts, although I'd love to get a shot of the setup in the snow.

Those wheels will look great on this car, and I will be watching this. You better live up to my lofty internet standards!

It only took me 5 months to get them on! I was busy working on my other car and winter hit us hard. Finally got a day in the 40s!

MotorsportTech sent me the wrong adapters twice. They finally got them right on the 3rd shipment.

Installed a set of factory fogs and got them activated by a Volvo dealer. $130 just to be able to push a button and have the lights come on...

I also installed camber bolts in the front. Camber is around -3.5 front, just a tad more in the rear. Front camber plates are maxed.

Awesome wagon man. Never thought I'd like a newer style Volvo so much.

I'm really not sure. I actually ordered some swift springs for the front with plans to lower it even more, but honestly the fitment and ride quality now is perfect and I don't want to ruin a good thing. It is my daily after all. I think I'm going to cancel the springs and keep it just like this for awhile. The only future plans I'm considering is crossbars on the roof rails and maybe retrofitting my headlights and fogs for HIDs. We will see what happens, though. I'm in the middle of a major build on my other car.
