  • Super slow Boston Green E36 Build

Hello all, have been a lurker and admirer of this site for a while now. Finally got my hands on a car that i want to really take my time and put a lot of work into. Have owned 3 E39's in the recent years, but could not do any engine work due to emissions and cost. I have had the car now for a little over 3 weeks and absolutely love it. Was never really a fan of older cars except for my Honda days in the past, but this one has really grown on me, i guess that happens when you get older, lol. My plans for this car once i can buy a hooptie to daily, is to throw it in a garage and begin the build which will hopefully involve a 2JZ swap. I just recently purchased some decently priced second hand Coils and style 66 wheels which i think look awesome on this car. Have only a few pictures, but expect more in the coming days. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Apologize in advance for the lousy pictures.

When i first picked her up, definitely a garage queen:

After installing the coils and wheels and also plasti dipped grill and lip: I thought i would need hub rings for these wheels being they are from an E39, but they appear to be reps and same hub size as stock. Also going to switch to 205/45 or 40 tires soon.

Before adjusting, was too low for the tires i am running. (Sorry about my messy driveway)

I was going to hold on to any suspension or wheels till spring but i found both for great prices and couldn't pass on them. Only place i currently have to work on the car is my super small driveway, that is why this will be a slow thread until i get a garage. Will update with better pictures tomorrow as it got too dark. Next i will probably address the lights or interior, also sourcing a 2jz engine.

So i finally got to get some decent pictures of the car after a few days of non stop rain. I do want to go lower but that will need to wait till i get some smaller tires and roll my fenders. The front is pretty low at the moment and i do ocasionally rub tires on the fender, and must now enter driveways in an angle, lol. I do feel the wheels look a bit huge mainly because of the tire size, i am running 205/50/17's right now, square setup on the wheels at 17x8 et 20 i believe. I plan on getting some 205/40/17 for the right look, and plan on upgrading the rears to the staggered 17x9's in the future. For now just enjoying the car, will be addressing some maintenance this coming weekend, and i am currently sourcing an engine for my future swap. Hoping to find a garage to rent soon and will be stripping the car and putting in some real work. Suspension and body strenghtening, interior overhaul, it won't be a track car but i really like the idea of the air lift race jacks and plan on installing some as well. I don't know exactly in what direction i want to take the car, but that will begin to fall together as time goes by.

Here are some pics from my phone:

I was adjusting my air pressure, that is why the rear tire is low in this first picture, i think i have a nail

Front lip is very close to the ground, entering and exiting driveways

Tires look huge, had to throw the wheels on because i now need spacers to run the stockers

Have full m3 kit on it rear and front, as well as AC Schnitzer roof spoiler (M3 mirrors not on yet)

I love these wheels on the car, despite them looking huge because of the tire size

Thanks, definitely need the smaller tires and more low. Will be throwing on the stockers and might sit over winter till things pick up again.

Haven't made much progress as the car has been sitting for the last month and half. Spent a ton of money sorting out engine issues that plagues these motors. Money that could have been going towards my new swap.
