  • Yes its a 5 speed! My IS300 story

Well ladies and gents, here it is. My ongoing build thread for my is300/altezza

I recently acquired this car from a trade for my bugeye subaru. The date was 10/8/14.

This will be a slow build thread, but it will eventually be done. I am mainly doing this to keep track of the progress of the car, not to try and be famous on a forum.

    Specs of the car:
    2jzge vvt-i
    Factory 5 speed!
180k miles (yeah its a lot!)
    BC BR coilovers
    Shitty wheels (for now)

    My plans:
Keep it original to my flavor! Like I said, I'm not building this to impress anyone, but rather to build the car I have yet to be able to build. I want it to be a sleeper so:

Turbo! Not sure of what brand I want to go with yet but I do have a budget (I am a college student), so any input from experience would be greatly appreciated!
Megasquirt 3 PnP (I am very experienced with megasquirt, thats why I pick it)
    LSD! Because everyone loves drugs
Clean it up, re-paint it (I'm thinking Diamond Black from the CTS-V)
New wheels ( I have an idea what I want but they are going to be extremely difficult to find)
Suspension overhaul, this means bushings, arms, sway bars...everything!
Bring the interior back to tip-top shape.

So yeah, those are my basic plans. Feel free to comment, but likely if its **** mail, I'll laugh at it while drinking a beer.

I feel an introduction/first build thread isnt complete without a background of my cars owned, so here they are:
My first real car I built:

    Sold that to buy this:

    Then bought this:

Then built this thing...and this is the car I traded, it had a built engine pushing somewhere around 350awhp limited by the turbo's capabilities, then 3rd gear popped.

In the mean time between the is300 and last bugeye I got this, which is now for sale:

I did a lot of work to each car, I did not buy any of them in the condition that are showing either, except the last bugeye, minus the engine work. I did all the engine work myself.

That gets us to the is300. A few pictures and then thats the end of this post I promise:

Then I made the tail lights red because I **** the chrome:

Then added a toyota badge after de-badging it, don't mind my friend, hes weird. Hes the owner of the 944 in the background:

Also still need to sand the clear coat on the tail lights and polish them out.

Thats it for now, if you read it I hope you enjoyed. Wheels to come next once I sell the wheels I have for the e30 and then sell the e30.

    CHEERS!

Thanks! There's a white one on google that has them, which is actually the wallpaper on my computer right now. I thought about getting a set for the IS but its not what I'm going for with the car, I'm trying to keep it as JDM as possible, but not ricer JDM, like clean well rounded JDM if that makes since. You won't see any Domo's or a lot of stickers.

EDIT: You should by my fifteen52's for your car! They would look sweet on there.

Well, i just bought a set of style 5s for my car and i don't think i even would have been able to afford them haha. But i agree they would look sick on there. Besides, I don't think it has been done before, but maybe eventually

Because it was essentially a race car, plus it has no room for my stuff and my dogs and girlfriend. So basically life got in the way

My dads viper always steals the spot light...
Even when my rx7 ran a faster time around Sebring then the viper everyone wanted to know about it!
The story is he saved it from the previous owner who let it sit so long the valve springs collapsed. So my dad brought it back to running condition, got the Hennessey 650 package (which is nothing more then a tune and a throttle body) and there it sits in the garage next my subarus

No major updates, just been doing some maintenance things and fixing little things here and there.
I did lower the front of the car another 3/4" and fixed the stupid little hole on the front bumper, just need to get a lip for it and a respray

Still waiting on someone to buy my Fifteen52's so I can get new wheels! SO SOMEONE BUY THEM!

UPDATE TIME! I havent gotten a whole lot done on the car since I posted. But got some stuff done none the less.

So pretty soon after my last post I had surgery on my kidney, but that didnt stop me from getting something done on the car. So it got a new Exedy OEM replacement clutch. Picture of car on my dads lift getting worked on:

I then spray painted the wheels all black and did a little mini photoshoot with a friend that wants to be some type of photographer. So I let him take some shots:

Next thing I did was buy spacers for the current wheels. I still at the time couldnt afford any good wheels, so I decided to try and make these look better.

                          On the ground!

At the same time I bought this sweet shift lever from Figs engineering, along with a set of catless headers:

And now the most exciting part..atleast for me. NEW WHEELS!

                          Test fit:

Probably should take my spacers off..or get over fenders.

Pulled the faces out of them. This is my first attempt at multi-piece wheels:

Tried my hand and spraying these bad boys, havent sprayed anything in a very long time.

                          OH YEAH! 3 SPOKE LOVE!

For some reason though my clearcoat came out looking like poo, so I stripped all the wheels back down and took them to the powder coater:

                          New tires! Achille ATR sport 2 225/45 F 245/40 R

BACK FROM THE POWDER COATER AND THEY LOOK AWESOME!

Now I'm just waiting on blackforest industries to ship me my bolts...didn't think it was going to take over a week for them to even ship them out, still haven't gotten a shipping confirmation. Oh well I guess.. thats all for now.

Lettuce not forget the super careful/professional paint job to make the lips black on the original wheels.

180k is a lot of miles? I just bought the youngest of the 5 or so cars I have/ had, and It's over 140,000 LOL.

But I cannot wait to see the three spokes on there! Love them and the color, will be keeping an eye on this!
