Ever since I got my silver E36, I thought it was weird that the light switch didn't light up. It wasn't until my friend told me that it did. So I got that fixed in the daily yesterday, looks good.

Worked on the daily a little this weekend. Serviced it with new oil and filter yesterday, runs good now, tappets are no longer noisy.

I also took a trip to the scrappies to pick up some seats that caught my eye, they're standard looking seats from a coupe, but actually have electric lumbar support added as an extra. Haven't seen that before, so I had to pick them up. At some point, I'll retrofit the lumbar support and heated seats into a set of M Sport seats for the silver Touring.



I also picked up an M Sport wheel and gear knob which are now in the daily - feels good to have an M Sport wheel again!

And my favorite mod by far is this one..remote parking lights!

The car has been running great so far, perfect for daily duties. It's actually quite fun on the ice as well!

I have however had a problem with the car heating up properly since I got it, both inside and engine temp as well. So today I finally got round to changing the thermostat which cured my engine temp issue. Then I went ahead and removed the pollen filter, to see if it made any difference. It did, so now I can get a new one fitted next week.

I'll be changing all the oil and maybe the plugs next weekend before my drive down to London.

I actually think the black bottom bits are the redeeming bit of the color scheme

Non-M bumpered cars look way better that way because it makes them look sleeker and longer. Fully painted Non-M cars look like fat blobs in comparison.

If I can find mega cheap M Sport bumpers in red, I might buy them. I **** the fact it doesn't have side skirts too haha. We shall see.

Took it for a little run about town last night and the only problem I can see is that sometimes the ABS light comes on when you park up, but goes away shortly after you start driving. Might be a sensor.

So as most of you know, I already have a 323i E36 Touring which has been my main car for almost 2 years now, but as ideas and plans form in my head, it was about time I got myself a daily so I can keep it fresh and do the necessary work without having to worry about using it the next day.

For the last few weeks I've been looking at a whole host of different cars, E36's, E46's, Mx5's, Z3's etc..all which would have required a bit of work. I was scrolling through my Facebook on Friday morning and this popped up..318i E36 Touring in Hellrot Red, perfect!









Few messages later and it was confirmed that the car was as clean as it looked. The previous owner's son owned a garage, so any work that was needed done, was done. There's a receipt for EVERYTHING including a new clutch just last year, springs, dampers, tyres, wishbones, bushings and it was also serviced every year they owned it too, which was oil, oil filter, fuel filter, plugs and sump washer and anything else that needed done.

The only catch was it was just outside London, which is around 500 miles from where I live. But my father and I made an ambitious plan to get the bus down to London and then a train out to the guys house on Saturday (yesterday).

So after an extremely long and boring as hell bus journey and a train in between we arrived at the guys house, checked the car over, signed the documents and proceeded to drive the little 318 all the way home to Scotland...and it didn't miss a beat the whole way!

Got home at around 7am today (Sunday) and after a few hours sleep, took a better look at the car.









The car is extremely basic, pretty much only having electric front windows and climate control, doesn't even have rear headrests or roof rails! Something which I ****, gonna have to see if I can fit some.

The previous owner had some old school phone fitted, I had no use for it, so it was removed along with the wiring.





The gearknob had seen better days, the car has done 140K, but surprisingly, there's not a spec of rust on the car!

The rear light had a crack too, but I thankfully had a spare.





And that's it! This weeks plan is to get it washed and a good wee polish, being red it's faded a little in the sun. Super happy with it though, glad I dont have to run the silver one through winter now!
