  • Mazda B2600i Build

I wanted to do an intro/build thread as my first post here. I am a mechanical engineer working in building automation controls by day, and run a part-time business called Urban Legends Motorsport by night, with a friend, and operate out of a 3-bay storage unit until we can afford a legitimate space (hence the name MoonlitMechanic). I'm going to start by showing you guys my B2600i, then show you some of my past projects to give you look at my work (the only cars I still currently have are my B2600i and the 94 RX-7). Ive recently sold my latest project car, my 1977 Datsun 280z, because it took every cent I have and I need to get my money back on track. So instead, I've decided once it sells, I'm going to do the B up the way I always wanted knowing it wont cost me much to complete this project. This truck started life as just our shop's beater/spare car/parts hauler, but I've decided to make this my primary car and give it the look I always knew it could have. The pictures and mod list I'm posting are from a few weeks ago, will be posting my updates in a later post, so this will be my starting point for the build thread.

    1992 Mazda B2600i 2wd:

    Modifications so far:
    Exterior:
-Black Housing Headlights w Xenon bulbs
    -Front clear turn signals
    -Red/clear taillight lenses
-Front torsions bars reindexed 3 clicks and cranked down
-KYB GR2 front shocks for Isuzu 4x4 PUP
    -Rear 2" drop blocks
    -KYB GR2 Rear Shocks
-20% Tint on front windows, 5% Tint on rear windows
    -Removed rear bumper

    Interior:
-Removed all shitty wiring previous owner did (don't ask, but that was a project in itself)
-Metal steering wheel (got lucky finding this one in a B2000 at a junkyard)
    -Ford Escort ZX2 Seats
    -Ford Ranger Center Console
-Alpine head unit custom wired to factory location speakers, with low-end aftermarket speakers

Now on to the other projects I've done (in chronological order from most recent to oldest):
1977 Datsun 280z (L28ET Turbo Swap on 10 psi with FMIC, custom welded racing coilovers, and a whole lot more):

Before that, I had a 1983 BMW 733i 5-Speed (I bought from member apexilude, it's now owned by a good friend of mine, The Carter, here is his build thread: My Latest work. '83 E23):

    2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4:

    1997 Honda Prelude SH:

2005 Subaru Legacy GT (Probably my favorite car I've owned):

1996 Honda Civic LX (Mini-Me VTEC Swap)

1987 Toyota 4x4 (My first truck):

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT (My first car and project, too much to list, lets just say 100 shot of nitrous and every bolt-on possible):

And last but not least, my dad's car, the one that started it all....

1994 Mazda RX-7 TT (Street Ported, built motor, 15 psi on stock twins and every bolt-on possible; in the process of getting it back running again, damn rotaries lol):

In the past 2 weeks, removed 2" rear drop blocks and installed Street Edge 3" Drop Leafs and 1" Belltech drop blocks with 94 Nissan Quest shocks (not yet shown in under-car picture, those are the stock shocks completely bottomed out). Also got a custom mandrel bent 2.25" exhaust made at a local shop with Magnaflow cat, muffler, resonator, and dual tips out the back. Also installed OEM rear bumper deletes to cover the open holes. Now I just need help figuring out my wheel setup. Here's a few pictures from a Lowe's parking lot:

It is gonna need some notches, if I take a speed bump more than like 5 mph I hit frame. I like what you did with that Ranger, looked through your progress on the stanced trucks thread.

Well you shouldn't be seeing it anymore, sold it about 3 weeks ago. It was a great car, but old cars always nag at you every time you drive. Wish I had the money to really finish that car the way I planned to. Money runs out fast when all the unexpected shit breaks.

I know what thats like, lol. Did you put slim bump stops in or just take the stock ones out? Thank you btw, I need to throw an update up on my build thread.

Trimmed the bump stops to a few millimeters above the u-bolts
