Ok so a little update. I have been driving around on the welded differential for a few months now and I was getting kinda sick of it. I cant really drift and the car is my daily so the constant shuttering from the rear subframe and the horrible understeer tendencies were really getting on my nerves. I had the factory LSD laying in my garage and the only thing wrong with it was the pinion seal was leaking bad. So I was able to get the pinion seal replaced and slap it back in. Gotta say I don't miss the welded diff at all haha! The next thing I needed desperately was a new set of tires. I did some research and ended up pulling the trigger on the Dunlop Direzza DZ102's. Its the first time I've actually had the proper size tires on the car for these wheels. I was also able to lower the front down another half inch. Anyways heres some pics (the whole reason anyone's in here in the first place lol)

Yeah if you don't drift your car all the time it's not worth it. Plus my rear subframe bushings are 32 years old and I could feel them being destroyed every time I turned haha.Cheers!

Hey man! i love your build! so awesome. i saw one here where i live on craigslist for 1,250$ canadian. it was on there for a couple weeks, and when i finally had the money after i got paid the sucker was gonei was pretty sad about it. lots of potential in these cars! i grabbed myself a 91 integra gs instead tho because the parts are more common and 4 cyl is a bit better on gas lol. but anyways, sick car! any plans for the paint? or are you gonna keep it rat style? (which is awesome too)

Sorry to everyone I've been slacking on updates! I haven't done a whole lot of changes but I'll do a quick update post here in a little bit. I'll share my plans as well for what I want to do aesthetically to the old girl!Cheers!

Ok so time for a little update. The car is my daily, and I'm constantly broke so I haven't made a whole lot of progress. The only real noteworthy thing I've done is replace the factory blown rear shocks with KYB AGX short stroke shocks and I cut another 1/2 coil from the rear springs. So the car sits a smidge lower in the rear now, but the ride is 100% better! The aggressive valving of the new shocks makes the car feel much more planted and nimble. Here's a handful of recent pics. Some are shitty cell phone pics so I apologize haha!

Now I wanna take a moment and explain the stylistic direction I have envisioned for this car. I constantly change my mind about the direction I want to go with her, but I feel like I've finally found a style and setup that will satisfy all of my wants and needs. I'm leaning towards a highly kaido-racer/sakotan inspired look, but setup to function well enough to handle a decent amount of power and be semi-competitive at a track day. Here's a couple examples of the style I'm going for:
Pulling off this look unfortunately means I'm going to have to track down some very rare Japanese exclusive parts, such as the inverted hatch and the lower rear "split spoiler". But my plan is to eventually obtain some wide 15" Watanabe RS wheels and run Toyo Proxes rubber with a decent bit of meat on them so I can actually drive the car hard and have fun in it. After all I'm not building this car to be a parking lot queen haha. Another thing I would like to do is a ducktail spoiler on the hatch. I have always loved how they look, but it seemed like the only way to do one was to hand make your own. That isn't really in my skillset lol. An Instagram buddy of mine turned me on to the possibility of using a ducktail designed for a BMW E30. They're readily available and only require slight mods to fit perfectly. Here's his car with one installed:

A lot of the inverted hatches are made DIY style. You remove the rear window, trim where the window mounted, cut out some metal triangles, tack those to where the window was mounted, cut out a piece of metal that goes from the back of the trunk to where you want the rear window whilst fitting the metal triangles, cut out a piece of metal that fits where the window goes, get a generic round cornered window, and cut that into the last piece of metal and tack that onto it. Then you could either weld it up or fiberglass it for the smoother look.

To go for the truly JDM look, you're going to have to chop the arches off and go for the JDM narrow body.

rice4life thanks for the info man! I'll have to find a good fab guy and see about converting my hatch. And as far as the fenders go, my plan was to keep the USDM P-type flares to keep the more aggressive look they give. Plus I can fit stupid wide wheels with decent rubber under them. My goal is to take elements from the Kaido Racer/Shakotan styles but ultimately keep it functional. But with the inverted hatch and duck tail spoiler I'm hoping it'll make it just unique enough for anyone who sees it on the street to have a hard time figuring out what it is haha.Cheers!

You should make the hatch yourself. Pick up a spare hatch without the glass, and start messing around with it and some cardboard, make templates when it's how you like it then move to metal.
Here's some inspiration. In that video you can really get an idea of how the whole hatch comes together and the angles involved.
