How it sits today!
What up guys,
So it started when i got this 1986 325es in summer 2013, barely knew anything about them but always liked the look. Picked it up and did all the maintenance on it, brakes, brake lines, timing belt/waterpump/thermo, odometer, spark plugs, things like that. Then painted the trunklid, and side panels. Also sorted out the radio shit. Sorry in advance for iphone pics, will get dslr shots of all further work.
So that was Late summer/Fall of 2013. In Spring of 2014 i decided to do a whole new suspension and 5 speed swap. Did both during spring break in a week haha.
Got the tranny and driveshaft of my buddy greg. (K-Line) he has the bronzit bitch build. Then got new pedals,
Clutch
Flywheel
Master Cylinder
Shift bushings/Shifter
Tranny mounts/Powdercoated my tranny brace.
As for the suspension i went with GC Coilovers and Bilstein Struts.
Then about two weeks later i did the 5 speed swap and coils, my intermediate shaft pulley literally fell apart and all my pistons and valves kissed eachother:
Pulled the engine after bad compression test.
At least the clutch looks mint.
OUCH
Sooooo the car sat while i figured out what to do.
Then i ended up grabbing the engine that greg used to have (K-Line) Took it home and cleaned it up and put alot of new parts on it. Powdercoated most the accessories and painted the block and polished the head. I do powder coating and media blasting right in my basement so its very convenient.
Painted engine bay :
Got it all back together on a saturday at 10pm, drove it allllll day sunday.
Engine bay looks hell of alot nicer.
And thats pretty much how it sits till now.
How it sits now, back to chrome kidneys, and no m badge.
I daily drive this car everyday, i am a senior in high school right now and work everyday over at a local chevy dealership as the vehicle photographer, so time/cash is limited. Saving right now and planning for all the work i wanna do this winter when its in storage. My plans include Subframe removal, painting/powdercoating all subframe/trailing arm parts, and putting in all polyurethane bushings in the rear end. Also plan on fixing the rust the right way, pulling my fenders and buying/testfitting wheels. So stay tuned for updates!
