1971 MGB Low smurf

Hi! I'm Chris and I've never really made a build thread but I'm hoping maybe through making one, I'll be able to keep on track with the car as well as get advice and help during the build.

Right now I daily a MK1 Audi TT, some basic bolt on's and some lowz


Onto the car: Last summer I bought a 1971 MGB that was kind of a hunk of junk. The big plus was that the engine only had 34,000 miles on it! I couldn't justify that it had 134,000 because the last tabs on the car were from 1978 and I couldn't see someone putting that many miles on a little convertible like that in 8 years in Minnesota.

Let's just say the car needed a lot of work....





It didn't take long for me to have the car fully pulled apart, although after, the work went kinda slow..but it eventually did happen and we got it done within 2 months (while doing full time work and full time college)

But now I've run into my big snag. Getting it low. I really really think a set of 16" RS's with some gold APR bolts would really set this thing off.

My issue at the moment is how to get it low, as there is virtually nothing available for this car in that category.

You can get drop spindles from http://www.mgbracing.com/partsservice.htm which will take it down an inch on standard springs,get a leaf taken out of the rear and shorten the bumpstops?

I know Moss used to sell race springs that would lower the car two inches. I thought maybe if I could source a set of those for the fronts I could maybe cut a bit off to get a bit more low out of them.

I don't need crazy low but I want to eliminate all wheel gap
