    Current build progress:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.
Since I can remember, I've always had a thing for angular cars. There's something retro-modern and spacecraft-like about them. One of the cars that had always drawn my attention was the Nissan Z31 chassis.

Here's the first one I had when I was 16.

    Stock.
    NA.
    Auto.

It was more than a problem child. Always broke down and spent more time on the back of a truck then on the road.
I loved it, but it was impractical and it had to go.

To make room for this. Z31 number 2.

Bought it matte black and it looked terrible, but it was 5 speed with the digital dash and it already had some wheels and spacers on it.
I can see now why I never put money into it. I had an AE86 as well -.-

I got tired of the patchy black and painted it green with rattle cans.

I was young and dumb and full of fun (still am) but hey, it was an improvement.

Long story short, it blew up.

    Between those I had a bunch of different cars. R30, R31, R33, Z10, KE70 etc...
None of them really did it for me like the Z31s did.

Then I laid eyes on this.

    A super rare import Z31 Fairlady 200ZR.
    5 speed.
    Factory RB20.
    Turbo.

    I had to have it.

That weekend I drove across to the next state to go and pick it up.

After a 1000 km trip, I had it in my yard.
    It was glorious.

    And that's the boring back-story.
Actual progress will be in the next post.

The first thing that acquired attention was the engine bay.
About an hour and some polish and paint and that was pretty much sorted.

It was the same story with the interior. For a one-of-twohundered-made-in-this-color-rare import Fairlady, it had not been looked after.

After a lot of cleaning, she was ready to go out cruising. Targa roofs off, boost wound out to 13psi and it was great driving about, bringing back memories of my other two but so much more. This one was actually quick.

Eventually I started rocking up at meets where's I'd have a few people ask what it is and that they've never seen one with an RB20. But that's about as much interest as it ever got.Photographers would look at it, then walk past and take a photo of whatever was next to it.

It was that night that I decided to make my interesting car more interesting.

And so out came the photoshop and the ideas began to flow.

    Wheels.
    Low.
    Series two front bar.

Hmm. How much money do I have? $600? Alright, let's do this.

And so with the cash in my hand, I began the hunt for wheels.

Turns out that there's not a lot of decent sets with tires that can be bought for sub $1000.
So this is what I ended up with. 19x9.5/8.5 with unknown offsets.

So how did they fit on my Z??

      They didn't.

Even with 12mm spacers up front, they still only just cleared the strut.King of stance? More like king of the ghetto.

      These wheels were bad.
Nonetheless, I rocked them for a little while. Even bothered to get some proper photos to try and make them look a bit more okay for my sanity at least.

Just after taking these photos I got a message asking to test fit some wheels to swap with.
I called up a friend of mine who has an S13 and told him it was time to go and pick up some wheels.

Drove down there and he had a bunch of old Toyota Crowns and Aristos lined up in his driveway.

Swapped the 19" chromies for some 18x9.5/8.5 Volk/Work Ryvers.
        Score!
Fitted them and drove back feeling like an absolute gangster. Got back and it was time to bust out the camera once again.

Unfortunately the downside to having a black car is that it attracts a lot of dust, so off for a feed and then to the car wash before sitting it in the middle of a parking lot and admiring my ghetto budget import.

        To be continued...

Factory RB20? My oh my there's so much I don't know about the Fairlady.

It's starting to look good, but I agree that wider wheels, smaller diameter and more meat would do it. Then get low, get low.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping a set of 35mm spacers all round will push the wheels out to where I want them.

I know this is Stanceworks and as much as I'd love to have a slammed ride, it is my daily drive and I live on a dirt road ridden with potholes, so until I move I can't go to extremities with the ride height.

I've always liked Z31s and it seems like this one's off to a great start, especially with that rb20 in there!

Okay, so 200ZR plates are back on. Will be registered on these when I renew it next. Will probably go square rear and slim front though next time.

                      Been cleaning stuff..

Found this tollbooth ticket for what I believe translates to Shuto Expressway?

                      Upgraded to LED illumination.

Also spent a bit of money on her. $504 AUD to be precise.

Is being shipped here and should arrive next week.

Quick photos because the car is pretty much back together.

                      Dat fucking camber...

                              It's not a swap. It's a factory RB.
                              Keep in mind it's a 200ZR not a 300ZX.
