  • Oli's Mk3 Golf GTi 16v Progress Thread.

Right so just got home from collecting my new car. Really happy with it, seems like a good base car for something special. The previous owner has looked after it really well, lots of receipts to prove it never needed for anything. It also has the bonus of being 168bhp from a standard ABF engine..

    Quick pic from last owner..

    Plans:

    - Coilovers (They were ordered the other day and should be fitted on Saturday)
    - New VR6 front splitter as it's currently missing. (Ordered)
    - Full stainless exhaust system.
    - De arching.
    - Remove the rear wiper.
    - New number plates.
    - Wheels (undecided yet, maybe Merc wheels.. Or maybe Porsche wheels..)
    - Vento front end.
    - New headunit.

Ordered a new gear knob and a set of mats today from VW too.

Should come together pretty quickly all being well.

Bought a genuine mat set and gear knob today from VW.
Also invested in a Sony CDX-GT230 headunit.

Took off the arch trims on ones side to find a small amount of rust.. So they are staying on and will try to get a half decent stance with them on. Oh i also removed the rear wiper and made some new plates that ain't on yet..

Fitted new wheels of some of you may recognise off a certain lowish Touran..

I had a stainless exhaust fitted, looks fairly OEM but sounds nice and raspy.

Also decided to remove the spoiler, which I've decided I prefer.

          Few photo's..

And yes I know it needs lowering!

So on Tuesday night I borrowed a van from work and drove to Northampton to collect some new bits

                which lead to this..

Some better pics from tonight, also note the amber side repeaters that arrived today..

My de cat turned up yesterday, and my new bolts for it and the rear axle/brake calliper carrier.

Change of plans as there isn't enough time to take my front wings off and do what i wanted before UD so I got cracking after work..

Aim is to get as low as possible basically Also needed to spray the other 2 wheels so got one done tonight.

Took the arch liner out, and rolled lip back completely. Got loads of room to go lower now..

Other side will be done tomorrow night. Cambering the fronts as well and get it tracked.

                        Clearance before..

How the other arch is after last night..

Decided i needed more clearance so took slightly more drastic measures.
