  • Promise not to break this one! S14 Kouki

So after crashing my first S14 (twice) and then breaking it, then getting about 90% complete on an S13 but then breaking it due to lack of funds, I'm back with another car!

Bought this one with most of the hard work done, saves me messing around and getting too involved, meaning it'd die a slow death again. It's fast enough for me, and it's also my daily currently, which is another reason why I can't mess it up too much! I love it though, had it about a month now.

When I got it, it looked like this, sans wheels (I ***** them):

It's a UK model, with kouki kit. Cheaper to insure (+) but a bit rusty (-) The worst of the corrosion has been fixed already however.

The spec list was as follows:

    H-Dev stage 1a chip
    NGK grade 7 iridium plugs
HKS adjustable actuator on standard t28 turbo
    Gizzmo boost controller
    Trust/Greddy airfilter
Solid ally inter-cooler pipes and pigeon mod
    FMIC
Bigger viscous fan fitted (like the Gk tech one)
    Ally radiator
    Silicon hoses
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (stock fuel pressure)
    Walbro pump
Apex type 2 4 branch manifold
    Unknown japanese turbo elbow
Japspeed flexi downpipe less than 1000 miles old
Custom hayward and scott shotgun exhaust with uprated hangers
    Poly engine mounts
    Driftworks superlight flywheel
    Exedy 3 paddle clutch
    4:1 welded diff
    Solid diff bushes
    Nismo short shifter
    Tein front coilovers
    Meister R rear coilovers
    Tein front strut brace
    Ebay rear strut brace
Magic racing adjustable upper rear arms
    Magic racing front tension rods
    drilled and grooved rear discs
    Subframe locking collars
Front wiring loom been tucked up after notching the inner wing area
    Genuine Bride Zeta 3s
    Driftworks harnesses both in date.
Driftworks hydraulic handbrake with driftworks lines and custom made extended lever.
Stock handbrake moved to otherside and welded in. Centre console cut to fit
    Hella supertone horns
Sony cd player with ipod mount
    Uprated speakers front and rear
    White led dash bulbs
Gizzmo boost controller under dash next to column
Autometer Phantom boost gauge in carbon ash tray blank
Battery cut off concealed in the centre arm rest
Battery relocated to boot in battery box
    Genuine Kouki front bumper
    Genuine rear bumper
    Kouki front grille
Kouki indicators with sidelights and indicators
    Hids

The only things I have really done are put my Nardi wheel in there and get it on some wheels. I borrowed four standard wheels from friends for the trip home after buying, only to find that two were flat! Rather than mess around trying to inflate them, I bought the old owners four R33 GT-R wheels. Only ran them on the front though as the other tyres were shot.

Monday just gone I managed to get my front Meisters fitted, with a pair of the R33 wheels moved to the back with 245/45s and 15mm spacers. I'm pretty happy with how it's sitting at the moment!

I have next week booked off work, if all goes to plan I should be able to get my friend to cut the arches out at the back ready for my rear Meisters to go on. I'll be using all metal arches, just extremely extended!

    The current plans are:

    Upkeep
    Roll rear arches
Paint rear Meisters black to match fronts
Eventually paint all Meisters TE37 bronze
    Lower a little more
    Skid!
Upgrade handling as stage 1A is plenty fast enough for me.

Hope to keep this updated as and when I can afford to do things to the car, I usually update instagram daily with pictures of this or my friend's custom front ended RB25 S14A, check it out! - @floydparsons

Very clean car, and great back drop. Wish we had lush land like that around here because you have to drive pretty far from the city

The wheels on the front would look super sick on all 4 tires. Besides that, its sooo dope

Had this creaking since I put the R33 wheels on the back, horrible sound. Was filming my gf drive up the road earlier to ask a forum when I noticed this:

Eight of the ten spokes cracked! So lucky that the whole wheel didn't collapse. Glad I'm off work this week, means I haven't been using the car much.

Just ordered the paint to spray these rear wheels, hopefully tomorrow night we can get my arches sorted so that I don't have to run these death trap R33s!

Wow, I would have probably just crapped my pants after discovering that.

                  Done some cuts

Needed about 30mm, maybe more as I plan to go lower in the future.

The work so far. Each side cut about an inch in from the lip edge, similar to tubbing I suppose though I want to keep the standard arches, just rolled a lot! Got my old shell to cut the spare metal out of.

Reason I have done this is to roll the outer lip of the arch rather than the inner, I want as much room as possible.

Need to go bronze as soon as, black is way too dark!

The clearance looks fine but it's really not, even with the coilovers set as stuff as they will go. Need to sort some much stiffer springs!

and damn IŽd be afraid if my wheels looked like the GTRs

Preload adjusted, looked monster truck so dropped another 30mm. Literally perfect fitment now, any compression is cambered in and clears fine. Just need to weld the arches up inside now (not using the car this week so it shouldn't corrode)
