    Aussie P.O.S. R31 Skyline

Okay kinda an update I guess
Today because work was incredibly slow I had a whole day on "standby" basically a day to do whatever I damn well liked, so what better way to spend the day then finish something I have been meaning to do forever
I give you my rotary tumbler...

I used the motor and belt from an old cloths dryer and the rest out of msg and some crap wood I had laying around

All it needs is a lick of paint, I think I have some ack laying around somewhere

I will need to modify it for a stronger barrel as I think this one is to flimsy and most likely not water tight ( it's my ex house mates old protein shake container)
I have ordered some 6mm medium cut ceramic triangle media as that's about the best I can do in Aus but if anyone has a good lead on where and how to get AFFORDABLE resin media in Aus please let me know haha
I'll leave you with Tilly one of my cats enjoying the new furniture.

Well! I have finally got it!

After trying to track one down casually for the last year I finally have a lower alternator bolt and spacer
Needs a going over with a wire wheel but this will actually allow me to get it running yayyyy

I had the exact same thing happen
I stripped the inside of the sca ratchet from a big set I had bough
They gave me my money back no questions asked so I used that money to buy a relatively good stanly set & and haven't had a single problem with it

I was originally going to go RB25/30, T51r etc but would be a pain to engineer and rego down here so 1uz is abit more sensible and staying auto because my base car is already auto and after doing a manual conversion on my old VL, I'll never do it again.

    Oh shit.

With my 240 Wagon I'm planning to go 1UZ, shift kitted auto, bagged and a decent stereo system.

    you should update!
you seem to be on here a lot why no updates!
Yeah not a student anymore but between jobs and living in a small town it's a pain to find another job especially when your 19.

I'm not on here that much, no updates because I **** taking pics of shit when working and lately it's still just stripping shit from the car, then it's going to be bodywork and shit like that.

Plus having 2 projects slows work down. 240 Wagon and R31 #boxlyfe

okay so today i got a bit done so i thought id tell ya!

getting my car here was a bit of a feat, i think I have mentioned I had to drive it pretty dang far on the starter just to get it on and off the trailer.
doing so pointed out something I had never noticed, the negative cable between the terminal and fixing point on the body was, get this, an audio cable...
like something you would wire an amp up with.
I don't know what gauge it was but I'd say it was less then 6mm2 and this part of the cable had melted.
there is also a lot of bullshit coming off the body terminal for the thermo fan setup that numb-nuts previous owner had rigged up.

so I thought I'd beef things up and get some 22mm2 cable . I decided to replace from the block to chassis, chassis to body and body to battery.

    just look at this shit.

as an electrician this pisses me right off.

I didn't have many tools with me so I actually has to cave to the forces of evil and do basically the same thing that was done in the photo above but ill be going over all the wiring the previous owner has thrown in and this will definitely get fixed.

    all crimped up
didn't have a heat gun and a lighter doesn't work on this heat shrink, its like super heavy duty so I'll have to do the heat shrink when I go over the rest of the dodgy wiring.
don't have a pic of the finished wiring its pretty hard to see any way with the grotty bay

next i moved onto replacing the steering column bush with a solid alloy one

Old rubber one, so much slop in this!
had to buy a second 12mm spanner to get it off because no socket would fit..

    new one
also had to run down to work to use the vice to press these steel sleeves in

and then I didn't take photos after that haha I don't know why must have forgot to.

also searched through all my bits to find the water pump pulley and studs,
couldn't find the nuts so couldn't get that and the belts on today so I'll have to buy some more
    I **** losing parts ahah

    andddd i think that's it.
    CHEERS!
