  • Teddy's not so daily, WRX swapped Impreza daily driver

    Hello fellow Stanceworks members!

My name is Teddy and I've been a long time lurker of your build and off topic section. I live in Northern New Hampshire which has next to no car scene unfortunately, the closet meets being 2+ hours away. So I finally decided to make a build on here to show pretty much the opposite spectrum of car enthusiasts (I come from RS25/Nasioc) my build. I drive a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS which I swapped with a 02 WRX engine, But more to come on the swapping later. For now I'll be updating this each day to catch you guys up on what's been going on the past 3 years I've owned it. Bear with me it gets pretty lame at points but it gets better the farther you read into it.

My first picture and the day I brought it home.

As with just about every other first generation Impreza the quarter panels were starting to bubble. Its a common problem that will continue to come back forever. I decided that since the I wasn't ready to paint the car yet I would just sand, filler, and paint.

          Le more updates.

Made a trip to the local Walmart and crafted up a shift boot, with my mom's sewing of course.

I bought a v5 STI wing straight from JDM land.

So I wrecked it into an old lady who had both brake lights out. Unfortunately for me NH law says the person doing the rear ending is always at fault. Its probably a good thing because the insurance company would have totaled my car. The radiator support was pretty demolished. So that night I obviously stripped the front end down to check the damage.

So I bought some parts from a friend that parts out cars and pulled it all back together with the help of a come-along and a sledge hammer. It was slightly more multi colored afterwards. I also hand built the roof rack in my woodworking class.

            stance16 by mx462, on Flickr

Bought a cheap exhaust that sounded terrible because the previous owner ghetto welded a WRX catback with no flanges lol.

            The previous owners handiwork.

So now that it was put back together I could have some fun in the snow!

              stance23 by mx462, on Flickr

A little to much fun. I tore out the under tray sliding into a snow drift.

              stance24 by mx462, on Flickr

Then it was paint prep time.

More welding and sanding and body work. Then the DA broke so that was halted for a bit.

Yet more body work to be had in this update. All of this bodywork was taken place in a Month last year.

Did some more cutting and filling. The rust on this thing wasn't really all that bad compared to other cars I've seen. I'm sure many of you are getting bored with seeing anything but bodywork but there's more fun to be had once the body works is finished.

Body work is of the devil. It really is. Keep it up though! It always seems to be worth the headache.

It takes a month of body work to paint the car for 10 hours. Lots of work for a shiny finish. Did a ton of work on the front bumper because it was all cracked up from the accident. fiberglass is the devil. I was picking resin off of everything for weeks.
