  • My slow 986 Porsche Build Thread.

Well, ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted a Porsche 911. With that being said, in a few more years maybe I'll have one. Right now I'm 20 years old and purchased this car about two months ago and fell in love because I wanted a Lapis Blue/Savannah Beige 911. I plan to build it into something I can enjoy for a long time. This is also my first stance works post so go easy on me! Haha!

A few things that've been done to it are Retrofit HID headlights, DEPO tail-lights, de-snorkeled intake, slotted and drilled rotors, new top with glass rear window (majority are plastic) and OEM Porsche BBS Sport Design Wheels. 18x7.5f 18x9r. In the next month or so (saving since I just moved into my first house :thumbsup I plan on ordering coilovers and then having a custom set of CCW wheels built once I figure the specs I want (feel free to help) and things such as GT3 sway bars, track mats, shift riser and short throw etc. anyways, here's where I'm at right now.

Sorry for the huge pictures! I know it's not every persons cup of tea, and there will be a lot of purist ****, but I bought the car for my own happiness. I'm keeping the BBS wheels incase I want to track it as well!

You wanted a 911 so you got a hairdresser's car?

I would get the RMS/IMS retrofit done before spending all your cash on style points.

LOL a hairdressers car? Clearly you haven't driven one. Call it what you want but it's one of the best handling roadsters on the market and I like the car so that's what matters. Ims and rms is already taken care of. I'll buy a 996 Turbo once this build is done with and I have extra cash.

You literally post nothing positive on this forum. Get out because you're everything wrong with a person. Why don't you contribute something to S|W and then talk shit about everyone else's cars? You probably drive a shit box, talk shit on the internet, while this kid has a fucking a porsche haha

I like your porsche OP. Good luck with your build plans. Coils and CCWs will look rad, and congrats on having such a baller car at such a young age.
        Great neck

You should do the GT3 front-bumper mod

          You'd be 1/2 way into a 996/7

Awesome...I can't wait to see how this goes. 986s tempt me from time to time and I know the potential is there.

Thanks for telling the guy off! Haha, I get it's not every bodies cup of tea, but that's what makes the car game great, seeing things done out of the ordinary. Thanks for the kind words as well, I work myself to death 60+ hours a week to have this car and a house at my age but it's one of the best feelings! Many more posts to come buddy

If you have the chance man I'd jump in one. I was skeptical as i thought it'd be a let down compared to a 911, but I honestly love it. The handling is out of this world, and the beautiful sound of the flat six puts a smile on my face everyday!

To the guy that posted the GT3 bumper, I can't thank you enough, I've been looking for a bumper/lip setup that's not too crazy and rounded looking and I've now found it!

Don't thank me to quickly as is going to cost you a pretty penny to do the conversion, but we'll worth it IMHO. Lol

Anywho I can't wait to see this. i miss my 986 boxster it was a blast to drive it was white with navy top and interior and had the 10 spokes BBS's on it. I think CCW D110's would look great and very oem+

I would like it more if It didn't have the vent below the hood. Do you know if the 996 turbo bumper fits at all? And I'm actually planning to go with the D11L, I just need to figure out specs which worries me as I haven't seen any aggressive fitted boxsters really, I want rear poke and flush in the front.

The turbo bumper is atleast different around the headlights idk otherwise. I'd guess turbo/996.2 headlights would be all that needs changed. I'd check what the dimensions people who track their cars are running. I know the car is capable of a lot of wheel and tire in the rear. I think my friend with a track prepped 987 has 911 turbo dimension turbo twists with maybe 285s on them. I wouldn't doubt a 12 or 12.5 is feasible in the rear with a stretched tire
