The car is back at home:

We can start working on it, adding some parts that were prepared before

Some of the fixation parts were missing/broken, so a bit of work to make that car great again...

          It starts looking better

          to be continued...

@white out: Thanks! I follow your threads you're also doing a fantastic job on your cars.

It is not the same kind of engines for sure, to be honnest I run a 4.2 V8 or a 5.2 V10 as a daily

              Chris

                A few more pictures:

Some parts that will be usefull for the engine have been sandblasted:

Then it is time for some artisanal powder coating

20 minutes at 110°C in my industrial owen

And it is ready to serve...

I (re-) found a set of vintage wheels, while digging into my stockpile...

I think they will be fine on the car...

                to be continued...

Some more work on the R8

Today I worked on the windshields

First on the rear, with a new seal

                  In place

And the worst part, the chrome inserts...

A nightmare to put into place...

                  Then on the front...

There are still the instruction like the gearbox grid, and cold start instructions

                  In place

The chroms will wait a bit on the front...

                  To be continued

The engine starts to get closer to the car...

A new clutch in 170mm that was the ideal match between the V85 flywheel and Renault 8 gearbox

Some cleaning on the housing bell

The rear axle, is removed to improved it a bit

I used 1 cm spacers between the gearbox and the rear axle, that lowers the gearbox, and the center of gravity of the car. It was a trick done on rallye cars back in the 60's/70's

Back on the car again (took me some hours to remove, rebuild, replace it...)

Everything seems to fit correctly now

                    to be continued...

The rear reinforced engine support is now installed

Since the springs are shorter than the orginial ones I had to modifiy the "retention bands" (parts that limit the suspensions travel/spring decompression)

Since the engine is not the original one, there are some adaptations to do, like for example the lateral supports, that are not exactly the same:

Not a real problem, I took some iron

Drill (well placed) holes in it

                          And then sprayed it

As good as if it was the original parts

                          to be continued
