used a universal rubber boot and 300mm stab links


steering rack on a e28 = succses!!
the car feels like new!
all the work was really wort it, now just a aligment left then test on the highway

some updates

bought a 370mm refurbished Mtech1 steering wheel



need a longer stab links so e28 links is 240mm

went and bought e39 v8 series 285mm links


looks better now


but then more problems

maybe need longer links or change the rubber boot into more slim version

bought a manual 850i so i didt do much with the e28


but started to do something with the car
bumpsteer spacers och e31 controlarms


better hoses

and new rubbet boots

the nwe hole thru the firewall

now some new powersteeringhoses left and thinkin what to use for new steering shaft rubber boot

the right steering arm is in near perfect, but the left one need to be more shortened

bought some really cheap laserruler from china


glued some magnets

and same thing on the otherside


tie rods








out with the old one


want to test bmw e31 control arms and mooseheads ucab(not on picture)

the pipes was touching the engine, so of to rebuild




wrong angle so must make a new hole


the steering u-joint is from a e30

the "new" steering shaft in wrong lenght =)

That really sucks about it being the wrong box especially at that price! Same reason I steered away from ebay when upgrading my rack on my e30. Sellers tend to leave out lock to lock numbers, and just because it'll fit the m5 doesn't mean it'll have the same specs. At least you got to return it and find one that'll suit your needs. Immaculate 535 btw, the work you've put in is definitely motivating, keep it up.

refurbished m5 e28 steering box =)

this wasnt a box from a m5 :cry: this was from a normal e28 3.7 turns outside car
send it back and bought a steeringbox from a m5 e34 instead with 3.4 turns outside car, so it be around 3.1 3.2 in car

from ebay around 1000dollar with everything inc. shippment
got to pay the deposit 300 bucks because i dont have a m5 steeringbox to send back
