  • A Teenager Trying to Slam an E39

What's up SW? I'm Sean, a 15 year old gear head from New Jersey.

I began my search for a car last summer, every weekend I would go out to every car lot and roam craigslist trying to find something with a manual transmission that i could afford.

Right down the road from me, there was a mk1 mr2 for sale, 5 speed with all the service records for 2k, and it only had 88 thousand miles on it

But the day I went to pick it up, the owner told me he sold it a few hours earlier

Then I was back to searching for the perfect car. A couple months down the road I found a 2001 525i, 5 speed with 100k for a steal on my cars.com app

Me and my dad went to test drive it, checked it out and picked it up within the week

I picked up some d2 bulbs since the ones it came with were basically burned out, got some carbon fiber emblems and a few cans of anthracite plasti dip since the style 5s it came with were terribly pitted and had some bad curb rash and a little tow hook off amazon

    Here's a pic of the e39 with my Dad's gt86

Then I got a cheapo intake, a roof spoiler and trunk lip

Before C&C on Sunday I plasti-dipped my kidneys, put on my windshield banner and re-mounted my europlate Any MGK fans in here?

Cars & Croissants at Paul Miller Porsche was SICK! Hundreds of supercars were there. Some of my favorites were the M3 Lightweight, the Frozen Black M3 and the SSC Ultimate Aero

And I'm torn between ESM CCW reps or some M-Pars, Here's some of my inspiration

I'm sick of my car's 4x4 status so NNR or JOM Coilovers are coming soon since I'm on such a tight budget More coming soon

A lot of my car has changed since my last post including the shipment of these

After a long weekend my FK streetlines were finally in

About a 1/2 inch left on the rears, an alignment is needed badly

The muffler was just deleted, my new kidney grilles and E60 SSK should be in this week. Since I just turned 16 I'll be getting my permit this week and I can drive my baby

Looks way better with the drop but IMO, lose the tow hook. It could be so much cleaner. Awesome start though, nice first car.

Off to a good start, maybe space out the BBS? Defo lose the tow hook.

+1 lose the tow hook, does not belong

Not a fan of the wheels or grills, IMO it looked better before, with or without the pitting and curb rash.

Please lose tow hook, refinish the style 5's and just buy spacers to push them out further until you can save for some better wheels. Good start though

Like everyone ahead of me said, lose the tow hook and if I were you I'd save up for some lovely oem bimmer rims. You're lucky you can have such a nice car at 15! I wont be able to get insured on a car like that untill I'm in my 20s lol
Great start, you're heading in the right direction!

What have you done to the trunk lid and tail lights?

A stick shift facelift E39 with low miles is a sought after car, don't do untasteful things to it.

If you can't afford authentic wheels, just do what I did and space out the style 5's. I ran 20mm spacers up front and 12mm rear on my 525i.

But with all that money you're spending on tow hooks, plasti dip, and night shades you could be saving for legit wheels.
