Ford escort mk2 RS2000 ground up build

As you may know i had a white mk2 escort rallycar and destroyed it on a rally

The shell was beyond repair so i bought a fairly rusty mk2 RS2000 to turn into a very similar thing to what i had

Today got one of the inner wheelarches and boot floor out

Its gonna be a long build this guys! And it will be built to whats known in the uk as "full group 4 spec" and possibly take 12 months to complete. Funds are my main problem with this build as i had the crash on a rally i'm not insured for any damage to my vehicle so every penny of the build is coming out of my own pocket and i reckon its going to cost around £10k english money

After removing the boot floor i looked at the rear chassis legs and once i'd removed a couple of shitly done plates i found this

So i cut the old O/S rear leg from the damaged white car and cleaned it up

Once i have made a couple of tall axle stands i will get on with fitting the leg

Cut out the right hand chassis rail

And fitted the new one to it

I got The new(to it) boot floor prepped and will hopefully have it fitted tomorrow

I've got a lot of time for old Escorts (esp the mk2) and yours looks like it'll be great once done. I feel your pain when the rust seems to go on and on! But at least you are doing it properly.
