I didn't keep my word on not cutting springs and lobbed off 1.5 coils of H&R rear springs and put them in the back of the car. Paired that with ford ranger shocks for the rear and now it's sittin pretty.

I am a heathen and now must commit sudoku.

So uhhh... Finally got tires on the AMGs that I had

    205/40/17, 17x7.5 fronts, 215/40/17, 17x8.5 rears

Front has no more wheel gap, but the rear had about 1.1 inch wheel gap.

And then I look. Oh hey, I have these old H&Rs. I have a hacksaw. I also have hands. And then this happened.

    Minus one coil

That then dropped it to about 1.25 initially and settled to about .75 inch wheel gap after a while.

So another half coil has been chopped w/ a VBS so now I am just awaiting to get my jacks, jackstands to remount them. Will be needing to invest Ford Ranger front shocks for the rear as it constantly bottoms out. Cutting the bump stops will also be necessary. Spacers will need to be added to fronts and rears also.

Oh, and a flush mount trim piece also happened.

Good choice on the car mate!

Don't forget to change the oil on time and replace it with old-type oil with zinc additive. New full-synthetic oil ruins these engines.

PS: you might wanna look at your camshaft and rocker arms for wear. These engines eat camshafts when not taken care of properly

    Update

Well, it's been about half a year.

Crazy shit has happened in Isla Vista since. It's time to move on and continue with studying and working on the car.

    Then this shit happens...

I wasn't even that low... This was about 9 weeks ago. I hit a water mains cap that, instead of doing its job being a cap covering the water pipe, was flipped up 90 degrees. Let's swerve left to avoid it! Nope, Prius. Let's swerve right to avoid it! Nope, bicyclist. End result was a busted pan and a gash into my front subframe. MB dealership quoted 7k to fix all mechanical bits, excluding the body work for the subframe.

On the bright side, much to the dismay of my insurance and a local auto shop, it's fixed now!

Anyways, I should be back soon with another update. The wheels and tires are put together finally.

    Aw yiss. Mutha. Fuckin. Wheels.
Refinished AMG Monoblock Aero II 17 x 7.5/8.5

Although I was excited they arrived, my initial reaction upon seeing the wheels went something like this.

    Thanks, AMGWheelWhore!

My buddy decided to do a sound check for the exhaust.

I've seen them selling on Wagen-Wheels, so you could try that site. AFAIK, they come in 17x8, 18x8, and 18x9.

I've found some new closeout wheels from Tire Rack that may work for my car. Biggest concerns would be that they're knock offs of something that I haven't a clue of and whether or not they would crack/break/cause a fiery death.

    Anyways, they're Axis Og-San 17' 8/9

For $650, it seems like a steal, but who knows.
Nice car! The grey and white has always been my favorite color scheme, although its hard to match wheel colors to these cars. I find grey or silver looks the best, for a while I was thinking about these for my car,

http://avantgardewheels.com/m240.php , they are futura reps, but they are still made by a high end company. they also make some mesh wheels like the axis OGs

Good luck with everything, and I cant wait to see more, looks like a cool build.

    woot, another W124!

If you're looking for wheels, know that you can run 5x114.3 lug pattern if you've got centering rings and wobble bolts. Might broaden your selection.
