  • W114 saved from the crusher

So a friend of mine works in a scrap yard and 2 days ago he posted a photo of an Audi Quattro that was being crushed

In the background I could just make out the rear end of an old Mercedes, so I grabbed my phone called him to ask what it was, turns out to be a 1972 W114 220. After a bit of negotiation with his boss and after handing over a small deposit I saved it from being the next car in to the crusher!

Turns out to have only had one owner from new with full service history and a huge folder of paperwork right up until it was garaged about 8 years ago.

The body is tatty but nothing severe just surface rust and bad paint not a hole on it, relatively low mileage for age and completely original and complete (albeit with some bits in the boot)

So for £500 (or $ 830 for the rest of you) it's currently sat safe in the yard awaiting collection. From the other end of the country! Should be in my workshop in about 2 weeks and I'm genuinely super excited to start work on it.

Here are the pics the yard sent me sorry for the low quality but I will get some proper ones up when it arrived

Will update as soon as it arrives!

Good save. I despise seeing perfectly fine cars being crushed. Can't wait to see what comes of this!

went into a wreckers the other week. absolute minter of an old volvo sitting there, on ground no wheels on it. paint perfect, interior mint, even had venetian blinds in this thing.

Asked what they were doing with it, said they were scrapping it, i said i would give them scrap price for it and get it out of their way, they claimed it was to hard to put wheels on so they ruined it.

im glad you saved this thing! these always turn out epic

Thanks guys, I was chatting to my mate there and he was saying they crush all sorts of mint cars, it's such a shame but apparently it's too much hassle to consider selling them to much paperwork was the excuse!
