    What's going on yall

My build that i will walk you through as these next few months unfold is one not of popular nature. Some would suggest to have chosen a different chassis, and that old 81 cressi is the type to be found in the nearby junkyard for a few hundred bucks. Not nearly one worthy of dropping money into.
Reason for my choice of car is simple...its ugly and i wanna make it down right nastay. ive always had a thing for the the Japanese simplistic look of the early generations. which led me to the residence at which i purchased my new project from. as i approached the cars place of residence i notice her, sitting in the front yard with a half closed hood and flat tires all around, i was desperate to rescue the old cressida from a doomed future.

not a looker but deff has potential in my eyes.

once the trip to the barn was complete and she had been rolled into closed doors the teardown soon began.

    goodbye obsolete 5me.

    adios moldy discolored interior.

the good old straight six. it kind of astounded me to think that this baby still ran despite the 300k+ miles she had racked up over the last 30 years, and even with neglecting owners for that matter.

how she sits without that old cast iron heavyweight up front lol

Now seeming how information for this swap is virtually impossible to find i felt it would be best to test fit the new engine once id acquired it to get an idea what i was up against.

a glimpse of the new heart and soul of the cressida

where things stand at the moment.

just ordered a complete front sump oil pan kit, cant go much further with the swap till that arrives, then i can see what mods will be necessary for the motor mount situation. will update as often as possible i only get 2 days a week to work on her with the work schedule.
expect the next update to be a wilwood clutch assembly, and modified trans mount to fit the w54 transmission. cheers guys

    Wow, that's quite the undertaking!

I would love to see where this thread goes.

What do you plan to use the car for, and what are your horsepower goals?

Here's a Cressida with a 2JZ engine, it's not your exact generation but they can turn into pretty fun cars...

I intend for this car to be an all around neck breaking machine. The body itself has no dents but does have surface rust which i will accent somehow. Once i get everything bolted in and functioning normally i will be bolting up a precission turbo that my buddy hooked me up with.
Hp. Goals id like a solid 300. This car being gutted and having no extra weight i feel that should be more than enough.
And of course this car will be getting a filthy fitment workover. Till next update stay classy guys.

Well since last time ive been able to push a little further in the process of getting the 2j mounted permanently in the bay of the cressida.

managed to pull the old mid sump oil pan (if anyone is in need of a 2jz mid sump pan hmu yo)
               photo 0304141513_zps7006a553.jpg

next was prepping the new front sump for installation, which would have been easy as hell if the guy who sold it to me had taken one hour out to simply clean the effing thing.

last step before the instal was modding the trans mount which involved me spanning the original holes in the crossmember out.

and after an hour and a half of much adjusting and lowering the engine inch by inch i managed to get it placed in the bay. Front sump gave me miles to work with.Transmission bolted right in. test fitted the driveshaft as well and the stock shaft is going to work !!!! Here is how i was forced to leave things tuesday.

i will be using the original 5M mounts and welding a plate up to fit the 4 bolt engine mounts on the 2jz as opposed to the 5M's 3 bolt

ps i know things look filthy lol, before the finished product the bay is getting a respray etc. etc.

Will you still be able to retain the Cressida gauge cluster?
