I've realized I can only enjoy this car alone.
When someone is around, they ask questions I don't want to answer.
When someone is around, I reluctantly give them a labored response.
When someone is around, I'm not focused on what I want to be focused on.
When someone is around, I don't stop to take pictures.
When someone is around, they make me feel silly.
When someone is around, my mind cannot wander.
When someone is around, I forget the real reason I got into the car.
When someone is around, they keep me stuck in the mental anguish I was trying to escape; if only for a few minutes.
I keep forgetting, I have to leave everyone and everything behind to truly let my mind process the knotted thoughts away.

The car has been a blast to drive, and I've put probably 400 miles on it. Have driven it to work a few times, cruised around town, showed it to a few people that have never seen it but heard about it for years. When the car left the shop, it had a half-miss in the engine. My buddy tried a new plug, new wire, this and that, and couldn't get it to go away. He finally admitted he had given up, and that if I wanted it fixed, I would have to take it to someone that knew more about these engines. That was fine with me, I just wanted to drive the car. I didn't care about the half-miss, I could barely hear it. So thats how I left, and have been driving the car since.
Well, as bad things often go, the bad got worse. Last week I was down two full cylinders, maybe three. Even I started worrying, as carefree as I am. It sounded like a wounded WWII spitfire crashing out of the sky coming down the street, and even the pedestrians were starting to notice.
What do I do? I wash the car, and park it in the garage.
While the car was parked, I looked for solutions. Starting calling around and seeing who might be interested in troubleshooting the issue. I was about three shops into my search, when my buddy texted me saying he was in town and would like to see the RX7. I thought nothing of it, and said sure, come on down. He came over, and seemed really impressed with it. We went for a drive, and he couldn't stand the misfire lol. Car had no power and sounded terrible. He wanted to start working on it, and I was like
I had no jack, two or three random end wrenches, a hammer, and a few screw drivers in my garage. How the hell were we going to get anything done?
He insisted, and growing up with the guy I've seen him work some miracles. We started looking at plug wires, and guess what? Two of them had burned from the heat of the headers. Its really tight in there with those headers, and with two of the plugs, theres no way to avoid touching the header one way or another.
So we ran to the auto store and got a new set of wires, and some heat resistant plug sleeves (made out of the same stuff you wrap headers with). Here is the difference. The spark was just shooting out into the great unknown.
Somehow, we managed to change all 8 plug wires with minimal tools, a few boards, and two ramps. It was actually a pretty good time, working on cars again with my homie. When we were done, we fired the car up, and it ran like a dream. It was around midnight, so we had us a little night cruise. Life is good.
I also purchased something I've been eyeing for years, should have pics of that next week.

Final Form
When you ring a bell an angel gets wings
Someone must have rang a bell.
It's been a long time coming, but we made it.
Drove through a lightning storm a few nights ago.
Had to smile.
Bet she looked good roaring through the night,
Dodging lighting and rolling with thunder.

Major credit for This Will Destroy You;
car looks so sick, such a great style mixed with functionality and it's always great to see someone so invested in the building as well as the driving and connection you get with your car.97 328i
