  • The Little Caddy That Could

Hi guys and greetings from Finland.

Thought I'd share what's going on in my garage. So long story short:

This is what I started with five years ago when I was 16 and had 500€ to spend haha.

My dad used to have on when I was a kid and I needed to get one too.

I pushed it in the garage and started working on it. One and a half year 'till I'd get my license and it needed to be "ready". There are hardly any pics of the project stage and I'm sorry for that.. I will promise to take loads in the future.

    Loads of bodywork: Monstertruckmode.

    Welding, sanding, everything. You know.

I had the motor (1.8 8v) off, maintained it fully, changed the gearbox to a 5 spd, bought coils, axleflipped it, and went through every bit and bob on it tbh.

When everything else was done it was time to get it sprayed. My buddy's the painter and I told him: "white and glossy please".

He went down to business and I now had a Mazda pearl white Caddy ready for the MOT and the road!

After that it was time to get some wheels. Bought these RSL Cult's 14x8 et13 off a friend and now it started looking allright:

Couldn't talk about real fitment game at this stage, but it liked it at the time. Bought MK3 GTI seats and a wooden wheel for the interior.

So the summer 2012 I rolled like this, carrying bikes, recieving tickets from the police for being too low (lol) and lovin' my little pickup.

So then came fall and it was time to get new wheels. BBS 15x8 et 12 & 15x8 et6

Pull the rear fenders, add camber and bolt on:

    Fuck fenders

Like they we're made for it.

After this it was time for the winter break. The spring sun started shining and I wanted to have a different setup. Got a hold of these and bought them straight away:

    Compomotive FH500 15x8" et-30 ja 15x8" et-40

Yea. Crazy. But I really wanted to rock 'em. So..

The colour's going to be VW LE6B.

And as a little bonus, a barn find I made last summer. e12 520 automatic '76 and it's happy new owner. Owned by a banker, left in a barn for 18 years and being brought back to life by me in the future with some, let's say respiration. Pshhhhhht..

Okay, so the new wheels needed camberplates for the front. They lifted the coils (well, dropped the top plate) so some modifications had to be made:

And ready to get trimmed, sanded and painted:

    Maximum minus camber (and caster):

    Made me smile:

    All good!

So as you can see next thing that had to be done were the front fenders.

Then it was time to get my hands on the wheels.

Yea I like white. Jk I think they'll look awesome with the LE6B.

First time on it's new shiny shoes:

Front end's a bit up but that's not a problem, still got 40mm thread left on the coils and it's notched so there's plenty of room. Tyres are 175/50 and before you ask, I'm looking for wider barrels to make the wheels atleast a 9" + 10" set. Atleast.

Still plenty of work (especially bodywork) to do but hoping to get it on the streets again this summer!

Wild. Can't wait to see the fenders painted. Also, what color are the center of the new wheels going to be? Love it.

Thanks guys! The wheel centers are already been painted glossy white as you can see on the second pic of the last post. I think they'll go great with the bodys upcoming color VW LE6B (sorry can't attach a pic as I'm on my phone but you can google LE6B).
