A few days ago, I found myself meaninglessly browsing Craigslist. I usually do a few routine searches just to see if there's anything cool. I started out with typical 'Volkswagen', 'Audi', 'Porsche', but this time when I got to 'BMW', it turned into a not so meaningless Craigslist adventure. I found a 79 530i with a $1200 pricetag.
I'm stationed in Japan right now, so I asked my dad if he'd call the guy for me. He found out either the head gasket is blown, or the heads cracked. I'm guessing the latter because of those wonderful manifolds. Either way, the guy said he'd sell it for cheaper than his asking price, so my dad went to look at it. He worked his magic, and 300 bucks later, he had the title.
Now obviously this is going to be quite a slow build, so don't get too excited. I have a few ideas running around in my head, such as an m30b35 and 5-speed swap(it's a standard 4-speed), maybe an air ride setup, paint, etc..
Please don't be mean, but this is the best picture I have at the moment. It's this or nothing.
I screen-shotted it off of craigslist and uploaded it to photobucket. It lost quite a few pixels on it's journey. I promise to make my dad take better pictures next weekend.
Oh, and most importantly, I named her Madeline.
