rotten mercedes w114 build :D

hi all

thought it was about time that i made a thread for this old rot box, bought it back in september time for £1600 and have been ripping into it on the driveway since then.

plans are to get it rust free, road worthy, air ride and fresh paint for this summer

was last on the road in 1993 so the carbs needed a rebuild but now she runs perfect, both rear inner wheel arches have been welded, skimmed and stonechipped.

we've resprayed the rear subframe and diff, new cv boots, and now just waiting for next weekend to rebuild it. then its time to start on bag mounts and the rust on cills and wing,

Any info on bag mounts etc from other w114/115 owners would be greatly appreciated!

Looking good so far, there are a few of us on here with W114 / W115 mostly 4 doors like your and the rare Coupe like mine.

Do a search on W114 / W115 and you will fond lots of good info.

little update, managed to get the rear subframe and diff in yesterday, worst job yet. started raining hard and two of the bolts weren't having any of it, but its done now.







should hopefully be working on bag mounts next weekend!

well, i probably should of updated this a lot more often...

the old girl is finally on the road and in paint, absolutely stoked with how its turned out, still got a few little issues with bags and engine but its now usable. and gets so much attention as you dont really see them over here!
















Also made a little suitcase stereo as the original sound system was terrible but didnt really want to replace it and cut holes in door cards etc

outta curiosity how did you do the rear bag set up? did you relocate the rear shock or did you do bag over shock?

Im planning of doing bags on mine over the winter but want to keep the set up as stock as possible to make it easier to sale down the road, so for the rear i was going to do bag over struts i think.

Beautiful car and the last nudge I needed to start seriously thinking about selling up and getting either a w114/5 or maybe w108....
