  • VW - Jetta mkIII, From Sweden.

    Hello all S/w users.
My name is Christofer (Not with "ph"). I am a car loving guy from the deep forest in Sweden.

The car i am building on is a European Vw vento mkIII 1,8 whit an automatic transmission (Usa Jetta mkIII).
I bought the car back in 2011, and it did not happen so terribly much with the car that year, just a set of Borbet A 16"x7" and 16"x9".

You can see how the car looked back in 2011 on the two pictures below.

If you wonder what oijoij is, (a text that can be seen in the pictures sometimes) it is the forum for the stance scene in Sweden i am a member of.

Alot more happend in 2012, Started to work alot on the fenders, the interior, shaved the sidemarkes holes, Mounted the coilovers, and bought a set of 15" Schmidt th-lines (15"x8" Schmidt th-line Et12 165/45-15. And 15x9.5" Schmidt th-line Et18 195/45-15)
The fitment became really good, Schmidt rims on the vento was insane. And sort of a dream to own.
Worked more with the interior. Started to handmade oak items like an own usa center console, sunblocks, and wrapping console items in oak folie.
I did not used a singel electric machine to the real oak parts, just to get the right feeling when they was made.
When the oak parts was finished, i did a paint job on them with wax oil.
I also mounted vr6 grey leather seats, and a Nardi turino classic steering wheel

I will now give you a massive bunch of pictures to do a long story a short one of 2012.

i sold the schmidt rims in 2013, i regret i now but i have another set that i will order this january 2014.

I will write the rest of 2013 soon. See you soon. people.

Awesome looking car! I love what you did in the interieur, pretty unique. Keep it up

Do you remember the offsets of the Schmidt TH lines and what tire you had on these? Would be great since I love their fitment, thank you!

And now time for the little that happend in 2013.
After many hours on the vento,I did get tired of it. So i started to build on my daily driven Golf mkII. Here som pictures of it.

But when the summer was over happened one thing in life. And because of it i ended up in a deppression that made me sell both the golf mkII and my Schmidt rims. finally before cristmas i came out of the deppressionen and is now happier than the happiest.
But one thing is for sure, i regret that I sold my schmidt's. Miss them every day.

Started to build on the vento again the days between christmas and new year.
Did some cleaning on the backpart of the car. Not much rust here.

Finally i found the colour i was looking for. Think this colour are going to suit the vento very well. Here you can see how the colour are going to look like together with the oak parts and oak vinyl wrapping and with chrome.

And here i am in the process of the last shaveing work on the car.

The new wheel setup for the vento is a set of custom 16" BDE chrome that i am going to order in the end of this January.

These BDE chrome on the images has dimensions 16x8 ET0 front and 16x8 ET25 5x100

But the setup i am going to by are following:
                Front:16"x 8" ET12 - 4/100 bolt pattern
                Back:16"x 10 ET 25 - 4/100 bolt pattern

A preview on the offset on the pictures bellow new BDE vs my old Schmidt's:
                Front

                Back

The offset is nearly the same as my old schmidt's that you can see on the picture bellow

This is the build today, Not much. x-)

I am going to build a custom badgeless early grille. i Like the early grille more then the later one rib.

Here you go, A little video fo the vento from last summer:

                NOW 2014, 01/19th January.
Did som wrapping work on the rearview mirrors.

I did some assemble of the center console. upholstery work and measurement for the leather hinges that i shall do for the small oak doors.

                This is all so far.

                    Us - center console complete.

Done!. The console is now mounted in the car, only one little paint job on two small oak pieces under the armrest.

                    Much left to do.

Here is a little video for you people.

Most of the jetta III have almost the same interior here in Sweden. Gray, blue, black colour on the interior are the difference, Some in leather.

I did not use any shims. I just took usual nut washers/bricks 2st 2mm's on each side on on the lower front bolt, when the car is lowered, gives you 4mm and 3 - 4 degrees of negative caber. Then measure the toe angle so the wheel roles in good angel. Same angle on each side.
