Even with your car breaking it was a very fun day yesterday. If you need help with fixing it just let me know.

Sounds like you need to fab up a thicker stronger skid plate. 12 gauge maybe?

have you considered a dry sump oiling for the e30 if you gonna use it for thrashing around in the woods?
Edit: or rewelding the oil pan to increase clerance, i do that a lot at work for the rallycross rednecks around here.

I heard e28's have steel oil pans that don't shatter like glass and can be installed on e30's... correct me if I'm wrong

Time for a full front to back, 1/2" skid plate. And then lift it ~4"

Sounds fun man! Keep it up!

yeah. I'm gonna assess how bad mine is. Maybe beat it flat and strengthen it with some gussets and stuff.

dry sump would cost a fortune, so that's not really in the cards. If it persists as an issue, I may shorten it.

not sure if that's true or not... they use the same basic engine, but the subframes are different. I know the e34 pan didn't fit in the e30 so they put the m20b27 pan on the engine from the e34

idk about the lift, but some skid plate renovations are in the works at the very least.

thanks everyone. found an oil pan and a 3.73 lsd locally that I'll be picking up tonight.
