An uncommon platform, but not in like a cool way - Mazda6
Well, an iPhone 6 shot but I'm having some mechanical problems with the car right now lol. Great timing. Cats were all clogged up, so I just gutted them and cleaned the MAF and we'll see if it works. It was so bad it wouldn't idle.
Mazda6 3.7. Car basically won't idle well when it's reached operating temp. It'll lope around 300-600rpm and then die at stoplights and stuff. I thought that pointed to clogged cats, so checked and they were clogged. They're gutted now. Cleaned the MAF too, drove it home, it died one more time but I hadn't reset the ECU yet after I gutted cats and cleaned MAF.
Had 4 codes -- one for each O2 sensor, which is weird because it JUST passed emissions a week ago.
Hoping it'll be okay when I drive it today now ECU is reset. Does anyone know why all 4 O2 sensors would give codes? Would that just be the cat being clogged screwing with them?
These are probably stupid questions but I've never had something like this happen before and don't really know where to start.
Both of my o2's went out when my primary cat died on my elantra. Something about the extra backpressure causing the carbon to build up on the primary cat, then since it was running pig rich, and sooted up the secondary cat as well.
But that's just my guess as to what's happening to the 6.

Looks great mane.
I wonder if I could clean the carbon off the sensors then?
I think I'll remove them temporarily and see if it runs any better to determine if they're actually the problem.
It does start and run, but it doesn't run any better. Also I noticed the red safety clip was pulled out so I pushed it back in properly but really doubt that would do anything.
I'm gonna unabashedly spam some pictures now that there have been some decent photos taken. Thanks to my girlfriend for the shots and editing, she's @mckenzieleem if you want to check her out!
Yessir! Planning on having a giant cabin shit show with a bunch of the mazdafitment people.
Fun fun! I'm sure I'll see you down there. We booked at the econolodge in town. I think our plan is to post up in one of the lots by the strip with a some chairs, and a cooler of beer and just relax and cheer for burnies!
