  • '66 C10 from down south

Figured I'd start a build thread on my 1966 Chevrolet C10 LWB. Truck is pretty solid with the usual cancer in the fenders and has some surface patina. Before the resto/paint Nazis charge from the hills this truck is staying like it is body wise.

Has the original 230 straight 6 with the 3 on the tree trans. the motor has been refreshed in the last few months along with a new trans. The day I picked it up it was almost to 4x4 height with some "centerline like" cragers and nappy faded tint. Within the week I soon changed all that and dropped it 6/7 with some drop coils and drop shocks. I can go lower static, but need a notch on the rear and some drop spindles up front. I plan to eventually put it on air and body drop it and also throw some white walls on it. I need to go through some of the wiring and fix the "rigged' setup that is going through the truck now. the truck rides great and is a blast to drive. Not powerful by any means, but cruising is way better. Hope you guys enjoy the progress along the way.

The day I picked it up from the owners house...

Sounds like a good plan. I love the patina/character the truck has already.

Thanks. Been wanting to get back to something old again. It'll be rad when finished.

Agreed. Natural earned patina is better to me than any fresh 10,000$ paint job.

Two blankets at a random side of the road store in New Mexico. Can find them all day online.

Thanks. I had to get rid of the cragers fast. Just not my style.

Small update today, getting some small stuff done. Replacing the front worn shocks with drop shocks and fixing a leak from a seal on the left front brake. Be nice to stop on a dime again. Somewhat see the beard that powers the build.

Here is something that someone is doing with one of these trucks, and I think it is a pretty trick idea, but there needs to be just a bit more attention to detail on the fender side of the doors. If you want to skip to about the middle you will get the idea of it all, and I think the lit up Chevrolet on the grille bars is awesome..

Not really my style, but that's a pretty rad idea nonetheless.

Had to make a lower bracket for the lower part of the spring in the rear and re-routed a few wires on the bed. Planning to lower it another inch in the morning along with throwing the mirrors back on. Stuck between painting the wheels white or going black with some white wall tires.
