  • Dirk's HX35 '88 325is

My name is Dirk and I like boost.
I bought my e30 about 2 years ago, and I have slowly collected parts and turbo'd it.
Boring HX35 for now, plans for something a little more potent in the future.
Not that spinning in third isn't fun, but I want it to be retarded/unsafe fast.

Flew to Florida by myself and drove it up to NJ with plates from a Passat and 5% tints...
When I first got the car.

It all started with a $150 Holset HX35 that I rebuilt and cleaned up.

    SVT 440's

Evo 9 intercooler I cut the inlets off and rewelded on straight

All mounted up, looks mean if I don't say so myself.

SPEC stage 3 six puck and JB Racing 8lb aluminum flywheel

    Installed in a breeze

Gauges all mounted up...and my brother's Volvo we turbo'd and T5 swapped

Engine bay before deleting ABS and cleaning up/painting everything

    During painting the engine bay

After MLS and ARP head studs and painting

    How the car looks now...

Lots of plans and parts for the coming year hopefully.

Let me know what you think!

What adapters are you running for the wheels? And sorry if you already stated but what engine management are you using?

Adaptech 18mm front 25mm rear plug style

MegaSquirt 2 for management, 15psi for the time being.
I plan to get Injector Dynamics 1000cc's and run 20psi+

I somewhat recently pick up a set of Fittipaldi Fittistars and have started to polish them.

I am having a hard time deciding whether to go built stroker m20 or lsx turbo for the future

                  I am leaning towards v8

Well lsx or m20? well i can tell you that most 'powerful' m20 cars are in 600ish hp, that is fine. but lsx you get so much more and you get rid of the problems that M20 engine got, rockerarms break high rpm, cylinderhead brakes between 5 and 6 cyl, so on.. if you want to run BMW engine i advice you to use M50, its not perfect either but its better than M20

but on the other hand same power range LSX is easy built, and eats miles as breakfast compared to those M20 and M50 engines.. so i'd say go for LSX, it don't weight that much more than bmw engines so no harmdone there either.
Project car: MB 190E M50 Turbo build
                      Now: MB W211 320cdi
                      Ex:MB 190E M50, BMW E39 530d
