      I wouldn't want to see it rat'ed.
It was more about the drop and wheels.

Agreed there's a ton of rusty ones to rat out. Original cars like this are getting harder to find and can only go up in price

Yep, that's why I won't be going to extreme with it.

              More work being done...

Paint touch up - There are a few spots on the car that need paint touch up, I wanted to keep as much of the original paint as possible so what Copper is doing is preparing the surface, then adding layers of paint, then sanding and polishing.

And example as I got the car ......

              Sanded and preped .....

After 1st layer of paint, this will still get more layers of paint, then sanded and polished.......

This car is VERY solid very where, it did have a a bit of surface rust but only in the trunk, so that is being addressed also......

                After a good sweep out

After some wire brushing, sanding and removed much of the seam sealer that was peeling away

Trunk area primed with Zero rust encapsulator. Seam sealer goes on next, then satin black paint.

Seam sealer brushed on as Mercedes did, next satin black paint.

                      Engine bay before .....

Engine bay after ..... I think I will end up painting the radiator and maybe get some new OEM stickers if they are still available.

Oh man, I love this. I was soooo close to getting a '76 300D in that exact same color a while back, but the dude sold it out from under me

I adore these cars, and I love the time and attention you're giving to this one!

Man, the more I see of these Mercs the more I want a good one.

I had a '77 450SEL but had to choose between it and my volvo 142.

man you did wonders on that engine bay, Dont be discouraged by the nay sayers. These older mercs are by far some of the easiest cars to get setup on air bags. if you dont want anything fancy and digital it will be less than $2k for everything. I did most of my install myself & im disabled..... With the exception of welding my brackets but even that was very simple and straight forward. I have a few friends that are on bags with older mercs. one was featured on here the dolphin grey W108. (D&W is his Username on here if you want to look up his build) . In for this one cant wait to see where it goes, the wheel idea is very promising IMHO!

Thx but the engine bay was just a light clean, there's more to do if I want to take it that far.

I think I'll start messing with the springs, spring pads and shocks and see how she lands.

I have seen D&W car on this site and in a parking lot in Carlsbad a time or two, it very nice, love the look !
