Did a compression check today. I think the numbers seem a little low, but my friend (20 year veteran engine builder) says it's fine for a low static compression '84 engine. So it looks like the engine swap is off and the figuring out why there's so much crankcase pressure is on.

Also spotted an old Quattro wearing these the other day. Might ditch the steelie idea if I can find some of these stock bbs 15s at a good price (or at all).

Haven't done anything exciting with this lately. A lot of boring tune up stuff. New dizzy cap, rotor, wires. Cleaned out the IA distributor block and the IACV, finally got this 2.3 idling dead steady. Still need to figure out why the linkage won't hit the Microswitch. Did a compression check. All the numbers came back good, so it's time to start poking around for the pressure issue.

Open questions to 190 nerds: Is the adjustable IACV and later non-adjustable interchangeable? Any difference between 84 FPR and the later stuff?

In other news, it was a great day at the pic'n'pull. They got a new 190 in, which is in great shape. I got a bunch of new in box parts out of the trunk. Monroe gas struts, KYB strut mounts and bellows, all for $50. There's a C class with a clean set of AMG Monoblocks on it too, which I plan to snatch.

What M102 engine are you referring too? Unless you are going for a 16v Cosworth.

Eight valves got a bump in compression post 86 or 87 (can't remember). I've also seen some with double row chains. This one has a single row.
