My grille came in Gonna test it in a little! I might actually stick with the KL0 if I like it enough. If not, time to paint today!
Thought I was going to like the silver on white but it didn't fit with me so I decided to paint it.
The Infiniti emblem on my grille was nicer so I used a heat gun and a flexible putty knife to work around the heated area to pop out the emblem. There are two pins that go into the two holes in the grille (for anyone who has never done this).
I used a green and red scotch brite pad to scuff up the old paint
Yes, that is Toyota white pearl paint. I used it last time I painted my old grille white. It works much better than ordering the three stage pearl paint online that didn't match whatsoever to QT1. I also used a clear coat.
I sprayed one layer of primer and used higher grit sandpaper to get all the pitted areas from rocks
Third layer of primer
I sprayed 4 even coats of the paint
Currently letting the clear coat set and dry. After I will be wet sanding and buffing to finish it up. Tomorrow
So I turn 21 in 11 days and my plan was to finish everything up before that, considering that would be my Birthday present to me (been very impatient the past 5 months while collecting parts), so next week is Spring Break which means "crunch time".
To do list:
- Get wheels mounted and balanced
- Change transmission fluid
- Reboot axles (all four CV boots)
- Shave down third links to accommodate coilover/ shortened UCAs
- Install coilovers
- Install Cusco UCAs
- Alignment (big time)
- Install/ find out a way to retrofit rear bumper skirt
- Finish by installing wheels after alignment
Let's pray I get this crap done, I've been waiting for far too long to wait any longer haha. Thankfully I have supportive friends and a father to help me with any issues. Also blessed to work at an amazing job that I can get free balancing and alignments!
I was hesitant when I was like 1/4 of the way down the thread but getting towards the end im really happy with everything you are doing on the car, it will look very rad.

Thanks! haha yeah I went through the "spray paint everything black" phase when I first started and thankfully I realized how dumb that is.
