I got a lot done today. Well, a decent amount.

No pictures but i mounted the e34 pan and oil pickup,

Decided to give up on stripping the valve cover myself and gave it to a friend to sand blast. that thing is a bitch

and then i ate at sheetz and drank coffee

and then i welded in my new frame rail pieces, this time using 16 gauge, its 1000x sturdier

now i cant sleep because i drank coffee at 1:30 am

    pics:

the edges hadn't been ground in those pictures, dont worry, not that you would worry anyways.

The problem with polishing an m50 valve cover is that the metal underneath is covered by the plastic coil pack cover. I'm kinda stuck with painting it if I want them to both flow, which I do.

At the moment I'm thinking of going with stone white ( the color of my wheels) possibly with some pearl thrown in. I might get a couple valve covers to swap out when I get bored haha.

Also I'll just update while I'm here. Mounts for the core support are 80% done, all that's left is weld in the nuts to the frame rails.

Got the motor completely stripped as far as I'm going with it, and painted the block and head satin black. I might switch to flat black if I decide I don't like it but so far I'm a fan.

Also I cut out the flat sections over the frame rails as well as the stock steel underneath so I can redo them with 16ga instead of 22ga. Plus removing the metal underneath will eliminate water sitting and getting trapped up inside.

Pictures won't upload from my phone, I'll get them up tomorrow

This thing is definitely starting to look wicked. Can't wait to see how it comes out. Progress is looking good too man. You're actually moving like lightning in comparison to a lot of other builds. I almost went the 3.0L route too, but decided that I didn't have the money to completely rebuild an m20 from the inside out, so now I'm just boosting it for the bitches. Think I'm selling my RS's to fund it unfortunately, but wheels come and go.
