Couple things to update you guys on on. Found out the problem with the heat in the car was the thermostat. Nice easy fix.. (Thankfully) Pics will get better from here on as well.

Yes thats really how it looked when it came out. Basically it was stuck open not allowing the car to fully heat up.

Then i turned to the fuel leak.. Honestly i was dreading this because i knew i would end up wearing most of the fuel that was spilled. I ran the tank pretty low but it still had about a gallon or two in it. As i type this the fumes coming from my skin could run this fucker for a week!!!

    Shitty leaky hoses before...

    During.....

This photo reminded me of this awesome song.. Dont judge me..

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syqo3L-WbCo"]R Kelly - I Wanna Pee On You (Dave Chappelle Show) - YouTube[/ame]

All purdied up and leak free!!!

Hers some random parts I replaced last week. Not pictured are both new rear calipers.

Boring shit i know but these are some of the stupid/typical problems im dealing with. The car sat for years until i bought it so none of this is unexpected. I did take a little lame photo shoot of the car today. Those pics will be up soon!!!!!!

Don't give up on it just yet, old cars require a lot of tlc but they kick ass once the work is done. Looks mad with that drop. It must be a bitch to drive it that low though haha. I'll be subbing on this one, good luck with it.

    Welcome to owning a diesel

If you're going to be mucking with fuel lines anyway, go ahead and replace them all with Viton for bio compatibility. I don't know if they do a percentage of bio in the pump diesel over there on the wrong coast yet or not, but it's coming sooner or later. Plus, bio stinks ever-so-slightly less than #2.

Couple things since dropping this turd and bringing it home...

Rear end is banging like a bitch over bumps...

Some bumps cause the speedo cable to start howling like crazy until i come to a stop...

Ive noticed a fuel leak at the rear hoses that connect to the tank...

Diesel fuel stinks like shit when it come out the tailpipe..

    Heater fucking sucks...

The lowness makes me sit low in the seat like a Fuckin-G when I drive it....

Anyway I polished the oxidized paint yesterday which came up great actually. also cleaned the interior thoroughly and put a new Mercedes emblem on the hood. The old one was snapped off in the 80's or 90's im assuming by someone not much different than myself back then. In other words somebody has a dope ass Benz necklace is all im saying... I didnt take photos since it was dark but I will soon.

Thanks everybody for the encouragement!!! The color was the biggest selling point for me.

The body is straight but does have some rust on the lower rear quarters and the paint is oxidized to shit. It should polish up pretty good though.

Thanks for the advice. I guess its normal with these cars but i keep going back and forth between really fucking disliking it and the urge to keep working on it. Love your car btw. Obviously its one of my inspirations!!

Heres some progress from this afternoon... The muscle car rake is gone and i actually drove it home today!!!! I also finished up installing new rear calipers and lines and bled the brakes so now it stops when i want it to...This is the only photo i took on my cell. I do have a DSLR that ill take some better shots with soon. You can see the rust on the quarter. Its the worst spot on the car which i plan to address soon.

Looking good man...mechanical stuff can be fixed more easily than a super rusty chassis. Once you'll be cruising its gonna be worth it!!

    Old cars...

I had to replace my transmission last month and now the replacement is leaking. It likes to leak other fluids like engine oil and fuel sometimes too. Good times!

You'll end up knowing every nut and bolt on the car. And if youre anything like me, you will be half afraid to drive it because you have no confidence in your own ability fix things hahah
