Work never ends
Woah its again another week in business of building one epic benz. I really hope we get to next page soon there is so much pics on this one..
Anyways MOAR PICS!
SOO i started by cutting the prop shaft tunnel or "cardan tunnel?". Made about 4cm / side more room for gearbox.
And then more of the welding..
And then more welding..
And this is what it now looks.. im not going to weld it shut until i got the gearbox in right place and mounts made... just in case i need to modify it..
So this is way i made about 8cm (~3") more room for the gearbox. next up is pretty much start working on engine + gearbox mounts(finally!)
Holidays for everyone!
So cardan tunnel was modified to fit the gearbox in decent angle, i know that BMW M50 engine should be fitted 30degrees tilted to exhaust side and 2.28 degrees back, the engine the gearbox is from is 20degrees to exhaust side.
Any how that meant i had to go somewhere in the middle so i tilted the engine 24 degrees to exhaust side and about 4 degree to back (due to issue with not enought room)
And heres the photo:
Had to cut some more to make it fit..
Starting to plan for gearbox mount:
The metal is 50x30x3 profile.. so strenght wise should be enought
Have new gearbox mount in stock + new bushings (altho the gearbox came with both but.. new is new )
Some planing + welding and test fitting and more cutting and planing have been done..
For got to take more photos after this, but tig welded the whole thing together, need some more supports but its good for now.
Then up for engine mount:
From 50x50x3 steel
After about 1h of planning and going trough different ideas, cutting and test fitting + cutting some more and this what i end up with:
