Hey guys,
Thought I'd make a post here! Been reading for a while, but not introduced myself. I'm from England, but have been living in Japan for 5 years. I've mostly been working as a mechanic in the Super GT series for Lamborghini, but also drifting and racing myself. I raced in the Euro Challenge this year and finished the championship in 2nd place. Currently trying to get a D1SL license, but on the two license events I've entered, I failed miserably. Mostly due to the car only having 230hp and being totally outgunned. I'll put some videos here shortly.
Anyhow, this is my current daily and project car. It's a 1998 model 318ti (Compact). This is what it looked like last month when I bought it from the auctions:

This is how it looks now:

For now I've stuck E38 7-series wheels on the car, and lowered it with very expensive (but lying on the shelf at work) SACHS adjustable coilovers. Since I took those photo's I've lowered the front a bit more.
It's an auto at the moment, so first big job is converting it to manual transmission. I have a nice lightweight flywheel and super-single clutch from an M3 that I'll use, and the tranny will be a Getrag 220. Currently waiting for some annoying small bits to arrive in the mail. Pedal bushes, clutch master and slave, and a nice racing shifter from the US.
Once that's finished I'll leave her 4-cyl for the winter, but next year I'm either putting a 2.8 engine in it, or just going for an SR20 swap as my company makes an SR20 into E36 oil pan kit.
Lot's of plans for the old girl. Pair of bucket seats, and a nice steering wheel are next. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks after the seat rails arrive from the UK.
Don't really want to waste time/money tuning the 1.9L engine, but I have some software at work, a fuel pressure regulator, and some good info for cam timing, so I MAY do a few jobs to the engine just to give it a little bit of help.
That's all for now.
Cheers guys
James
