Made a new friend this week
Identical year, make, color, model only his has 230k miles!! I'm about to hit the 100k mark this next week! If I feel like I could sell it for $1,000 more if I sold it at 99,999 miles opposed to 100,000.
2 nights ago I bought some 20mm H&R spacers and extended lugs for a nice wide offset to let my drift spares clear the rear brakes. What I learned about the 15" E36 328i stock wheels is that it rubs on the brakes in 2 locations. Without spacers the car will not even move an inch because the face of the wheel hits the face of the caliper. I also learned that even with these spacers, the diameter of the wheel gives not much clearance for the diameter of the wheel.
In a desperate measure to be ready for drift school the next morning, I bought these spacers and got the wheels on but the brakes rubbed on the inside of the wheel. I managed to still use my drift spares by picking up a metal file and filing down the top of the caliper only about a half millimeter.
If anybody is looking to buy these wheels for this model car - you would need at least 15mm spacers, and you'll need to grind down about a mm on top of the caliper..sounds jenky, but it works.
Heres some photos from my track day with my good friend and instructor Mike Phillips.

I learned a LOT about my car yesterday. I now have a list I'll create to show you what I will need for next time I desire to be on the track.
1. Its recommended to fix your POWER STEERING when drifting
2. Look at all that body roll! I need some COIL OVERS to keep me planted.
3. I really want to be able to feel the road, I definitely will need RACING SEATS.
4. I'd like to get a suede STEERING WHEEL and some gloves.
All obvious mods but I left out a lot because I also have some good things I like about this car already.
Despite the horrible body roll from these old blown shocks, I have some really nice thick front and rear sway bars, the chipped motor with the intake and exhaust is a great platform of power to start from. My brakes are really good, and the inside keeps me nice and warm during this winter season.
My car is at 99k miles! I'm told that after 100k it's all down hill from there in needing repairs. Does anybody know or suggest buying an aftermarket warranty since the car hasn't hit 100k yet? Thanks
