I have been sleeping on the build thread.
Parted out my s130 drift beater last year to start a more family friendly project.
I finally found my 1990 240 DL 2.3 Automatic Trans, 240,000 miles..........
NO BRAKES. hahah
Diagnosed a bad master cylinder, i was confident we could drive it home,
hours later i had it back in Cincinnati, days later, brake master cylinder replaced.
The goal was to be able to haul stuff around, park hard, attend meets, track days, bring tools/wheels
for drifting friends, and most of all make them all jealous they don't have an ugly brick!
Body was decent other than the 2in round rust hole at the nose of the hood, we soon made a trip to the local pull n pay for a better condition used one.
Success.
3 months of buying parts and making as much parts as i can.
Custom down pipe/lower portion of header has been shortened 3in to create more
ground clearance.
We also ended up using a Empi Stinger for the end section of
the tail pipe. Turned out looking good.
Sourced my needed threaded sleeves and hardware from a $40 honda coilover kit. :-)
Custom Coilover Front.
QA1 6kg 2.5id 8in springs, 50mm cut/weld modified strut tubes
KYB short stoke insert (SAAB insert)
Remove, disassemble, cut/weld, resemble, clean/paint, re-install.
Front Complete.
Threaded Sleeve on spring perch Rear.
ksport 5kg 8in springs, KYB short stroke shock (Chevy S10 4x4 Front Shocks)
Weld on rear coil sleeve to oem spring perch.
Ended up changing rear springs out for ksport 6kg 10in springs, i want to have
a little more room to raise and lower the rear.
Modified OEM panhard bar into an adjustable bar by using jack screw and weld on threaded bungs.
American Racing AR26 wheels. 15x8 - 20
They were ugly, i had to strip all clear coat/corrosion off of them,
punch out the dome studs around the wheel face.
Painted the wheels Gunmetal grey, clear coat, installed stainless hardware.
Found a good deal on some hankook ventus, 175/55R15
As far as the body, cut, rolled, worked fenders and quarters, probably still have more to do.
The last addition was a Volvo 740 Front lip installed between my factory 240 lip and the bumper.
I knew when i picked up my 245 that i wanted to do something different with the lights.
After researching headlight options i realized i didn't want to get into the 90s euro glass upgrade
or doing a front end (bumper, hood, fenders, grill, core support) conversion.
Bought a set of Datsun 280zx Projector Headlights for $50.
Before you get worried of rice-ness, the headlights housing are chrome,
but the bulbs inside are blue.
My goal was to modify the back of the light so i can utilized factory Volvo 9004 bulbs.
These lights also come with 194/168 wedge socket city/daytime running lights. (depending on how you wiring them)
I pulled out the blue wedge bulbs and got a set of PIAA yellows.
Here are the 9004 bulbs fitted to H4 base.
I managed to bust the covers off of my factory headlights, sure i could have bought a used set to try this with.......but i was pretty confident that i could get it all finished in a couple hours.
Matte black sprayed housing.
Finished Product
I read so many anti-headlight swap comments on volvo forums when i first picked up my wagon, i felt like most people were against it because they weren't bold enough to try it themselves and they had yet to see someone else pull it off nicely.
At this point people assume my wagon is older than it really is. :-)

wheel shot.
fender mirrors are on.
Over the winter i will be selling my wheels and looking for a set of 17in wheels.
Not that i don't like the japan style classic poke fitment, but i think with
more wheel, less tire, and a little less offset, it might really set it off.
I should have some more photos and updates soon.
All custom work done by myself and of course the Unfriendly Garage Crew.
