Almost done the inner fender well work on the rear of the car. It's really nice that nothing rubs now! The front still needs new tires and get dropped alittle more.

Random update...

The needed Relays are now here. So the Haltech wiring process can begin!



I'm going to try out some VW 1.8t Coils instead of the single coil pack and wires. It'll be neat and tidy with the wires from the ecu going direct to the coil packs.



Picked up some new connectors for the coils.



And since I'm mixing japanese with german, watercooled with aircooled... might as well throw some aircooled bits on the subie! Im using the aircooled pushrod tube seals to seal the spark plug hole so nothing gets inside.

So I've been plugging away on the ghia for the last little while.

Finishing the rear fenders wells, running into issues with the rear axles, waiting for parts and hardware, etc etc.

I decided to pull the engine last weekend and finished the firewall and clean up the engine bay.



Now that all that stuff is done, the engine will go back in and the wiring process can actually begin!

A phone photo update.

Since my last post this is what has happened with the Ghia.

The engine is back in.



Deck lid is on.



But I wanted the deck lid to act a scoop for when I eventually run an intercooler. I've always loved the deck lid "stand off's", I had it on my 1960 Ragtop beetle. Since I'm not putting an intercooler on it right away, since the 2.2 turbo didnt actually have one to begin with, I'd like the car to remain looking like it doesnt have a little monster inside... As well, I cut the deck lid latch part right out so there is nothing for the deck lid to hook to in its original fashion.

So we made the whole decklid all suicide like. The bar is bolt and removes easy if i have to pull the motor. the Decklid itself slides on and off the mount as well. Since it opens backwards, there is so much room for working activities!



The way im keeping it closed... think porsche speedster... (thats currently in the works)



moving on.

The wiring of the engine ecu ( Haltech Sprint 500) has begun as well.



It's going to be oh so very neat and tidy!

Last night (Monday January 6 2014) I did some work.

Made a cozy home for the ECU in an ammo box.



and then fitted the front bumper to the car and put on some fog lights

Some tings...

I got the relays mounted and ready to be wired up to the car.


Last night more wiring got done. Fuel injectors and Coil packs are wired up.


and more front end work was done.


I'll post DSLR photos when I remember to bring my camera home.
